Old Ship Aground in West Somerset

Stayed here to start the SW coastal path. Rooms are comfortable and clean but the place is a bit tired. The pub is quite authentic, the food and drink were good, what really stands out are the staff, the manager was amazing and all the staff really cared. Breakfast was good albeit in a rather grotty dining room and we had a great packed lunch for our walk. I'd recommend this place to start the SW coastal path as it's right at the beginning of the path and we couldn't find anywhere else that came close in Minehead.

Very friendly staff & excellent service. Only had tea, coffee & cake but it was very nice & well priced. Dog friendly. Quirky & traditional decor. Seating also available outside with nice view of harbour. Well worth a visit.

We stayed here over night. Comfy bed, great facilities, clean and tidy. Amazing dinner. Breakfast was included - absolutely delicious. Never tasted such a fab breakfast. All staff are friendly and polite, well dressed, always putting customers first. We came back and had lunch, roast was tasty, my partner actually drank the gravy.. he said he’s never had anything like it before.Thankyou Rosie and team for making our stay and meals so pleasant. We are travelling back next weekend so we shall see you Saturday :) xx

Lovely old building on the harbour showing its age in places which is more than made up for by its charm. All the staff are excellent, led by Rosie who typifies their customer centric approach.We stayed 2 nights in a harbour view room and ate there both nights. Food was excellent as was breakfast and we would happily stay again. Very dog friendly too, including the accommodation.

Proper pub with seafood-based menu with other pub classics and a few real ales to choose from. Service was friendly and prices were not too expensive. Had the ham, egg and chips; dressed crab; liver and bacon; seafood linguine and sea bass.

A convenient hostelry from our holiday let and was good.We shared the mushroom starter which was very nice.The OH enjoyed her F'n'C but I wasn't impressed with my choice of Hunters Chicken (I knew I should have chosen the mussels).Lovely deserts made up for it!Excellent beer and even better service by the staff.So highly recommend

Lovely little pub by the sea, incredible Sunday Roast, great value, and really decent portion sizes. In fact I'd say this is the best Sunday Roast ive eaten out for the last 10 years. Team really helpful as well. Couldn't fault it. Highly recommended 👌

Visited with family and friends for Sunday roast dinner and was disappointed with having roast on the menu but only having one left at 1300. The menu was limited, broken coffee machine, table for 6 was very small, food was very slow to come out, some which was cold and had to be returned, I thought the pricing was on the expensive side for the food provided. The service staff were very welcoming, happy to help in any way.

We went for Sunday lunch. We were one of the first lunch tables to arrive, but the food took over 45 minutes to arrive.Unfortunately the roast potatoes were like leather. Like they'd spent much too long in a heat cupboard. The nutroast was more rice than nuts which didn't taste bad, but seemed a little strange texturally for me.For the meal price, the quality didn't match.Service was friendly but not great. We had to pay at the bar as the (maskless) waitress forgot to return with the card machine (or was sidetracked with other tasks)The kitchen staff appeared to waft through the bar area leaving a cloud of BO behind. Which shows they were working very hard, but doesn't give confidence of hygiene.My parents have enjoyed coming here many times, but I will be vetoing next time it's suggested. Sorry.I've been with them before, last year, and don't recall it being a negative experience, so it's possible this was just an off day.Honestly, all would have been forgiven if the roast potatoes were up to Parr!

I'm originally from Minehead but moved away some 20+ years ago so when I had a few days back in the town I still call home I was keen to visit all the places I remembered from my childhood, and The Old Ship Aground was one of those places.The pub / restaurant is dog friendly which is a bonus for us and the food was outstanding.The staff were friendly and very attentive and made sure our visit was perfect.In fact we were so impressed we actually went back for lunch a second time during our stay, and we were only there for 4 days.
