The Cod 'n' Wok in West Somerset

Turn your oil heat down!Everything was hugely overcooked and mushy inside as a result of the oil being too hot! Fish has very little batter resembling Tesco’s own brand cod, expected light fully/bubbly batter but thin, over cooked and dark. Onion rings hard as rock and inedible. Battered sausages mushy inside. Fish cake dry, mushy peas dry. Chips cut so small that might as well had given us fries. I serve better food at my primary school budget kitchen. Disappointed!

Fantastic chippy, proper old school with crispy light batter and proper light brown crispy fluffy chips, huge portions and friendly efficient service.My wife and I eat in and had cod and chips, a portion of mushy peas and a bottle of water for £16 😳The portions of chips were hugeIf there had been 4 of us it would still have been too much 😁Do not be put off by the location, take the time to come inland a bit and sample the best chippy in Minehead, you will not regret it 👍🏻

Went in here for fish and chips. 2 guys outsideSmoking said they would be open soon. So we went shops then came back to the most disgusting fish and chips ever. The batter was made to thick the fish was not cod seemed like pollock or something cheap. The chips were also horrendous. We had to throw it all in the bin.

Came across this little gem. Best fish and chips for a long time. Would definitely recommend. Service was great.

Fantastic, fresh fish and chips. I’m full to bursting. Big portions, crispy chips and the batter light and crunchy. Yum.

Freshly cooked, crispy chips, large portions all for under £30 for five people - Bargain!

Visited here as I was passing, thought I'd give it a try instead of my usual fish and chip shop in the area, which iv been loyal to for years. Absolutely the best chips iv ever had! They have raised the bar as to the quality of fish and chip shops!! Can't recommend enough, it's fantastic 👏

Really looking forward to sampling the fish and chips. 3x F&C purchased,down to the harbour we go!Chips lovely, crisp non- greasey. Fish, hmmm....batter thick crisp on outside soggy raw inside,fish grey insipid looking but in fairness tasted ok. Tbh, I'm not sure it was cod, it was thin greyish fish.I'd eat here again as I'm sure it was an off day, we can all have them, right?

When you fancy fish and chips you want it to taste this good, there was a bit of a wait for the food but it was freshly cooked and a sudden in rush of customers but it was worth the wait, I will go back. The curry sauce comes in three levels, a Chinesesy mild with a peppery spice, medium or burn your butt off hot.

Very friendly staff, lovely variety of freshly cooked to order food. Highly recommend. The bonus for me was the food trays, much better than the polystyrene and thin cardboard ones used in other food outlets.
