The Hood arms is on the A39 at Kilve, and we decided to eat there on the spur of the moment, after a day out. I'm glad we phoned ahead, because it was really busy, in a good way (it was a Saturday night, but January, so very impressive to be so full), and despite that we were offered a different table if we didn't want to be so close to the door. The menu was interesting, and small enough to make you confident that all the dishes are made on the premises, and freshly prepared. They could only fit us in on a rather late sitting, so some of our first choices had already gone, but we were both very happy with what we ordered in the end. I had the chicken breast and would have been happy with half the quantity (although I seemed to finish most of it!) and my partner's fish and chips was huge - and very good chips! Washed down with some local beer, it was delightful. Very slick, friendly service. There is some parking outside the pub, but there is a lot more in a public car park just a few yards up the road.Well worth a visit - but it would be prudent to book!

Friendly welcome. We had two of the best courses we've ever had, scallops perfectly presented on bacon and black pudding and the pan friend cod loin with King prawn tagliatelle with white wine cream sauce. To die for!! Thanks all!

Everything was fine: excellent reviews, very warm inside, friendly service staff, food was quite well portioned, but - 2 things let it down. 1 we wIted 45 minutes for our main meal with no updating on place, then when it came my order (pork tenderloin and mash) was almost cold, and a 20-minute wait for ice-cream. In fairness the owner did reduce the end bill by the price of my meal. A disheartening shame as he seemed a great guy and we did.like the pub. It was well decorated and had a lovely feel to it.

Great stay! Lovely room and amazing food, even took my kitten as no-one could look after her. Needless she enjoyed it too! Cat and dog friendly thank you very much.

The rooms were clean and tastefully appointed. The beds were comfortable and dinner and breakfast were both excellent. The landlord and staff were really pleasant and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome and the whole stay was perfect. Would definitely recommend.
