The carvery was not worth taking about. It reminded me of being back at my Nan's as the food portions were so small. I thought the idea of a carvery is to fill you up so much that you cannot eat anything else. When I left the restaurant I still felt hungry. The table we were seated at, everytime someone walked behind us it made the four of us feel like we were sitting on a bouncy castle. Because the floor keeped bouncing and it was making us feel unwell.

Wednesday Carvery was a treat. We attended for a meal here recently for my partners bday lunch. We have never had a bad meal here in 17 years we've visited. Friendly staff and great choice of beers and spirits..the ambiance is traditional country pub love it

I arrived by coach on Wednesday on a day trip to see the Snowdrops in the valley. I had a wonderful carvery, best I can ever remember, wonderful restaurant to eat in. Amazing staff who looked after us all, to give us a wonderful day, especially after days of continuous rain. We all thank you very much.

Lovely! Great food, quick and delicious. Very knowledgeable publican who recommended another great walk when the one we wanted had been closed by storm Eunice.

Went in for a spontaneous Sunday lunch as part of a large group. Landlord was incredibly accommodating and the carvery was very well done. Good portions and well cooked meat, enjoyable Nut Roast for the vegetarians as well

Out of the week long bike tour the five of us stayed here and it was by far the best & most comfortable stay we experienced. Great food and the landlord Eric knows his trade well very traditional inn not very often found these days. Thank you.

A lovely place, we stayed Monday to Friday and where can we start, the breakfast was plentiful and lovely, we definitely didn't go hungry! The staff were pleasant and kind, Eric is a gem. The rooms were well presented, lovely and clean, ideal as a base to go off travelling and exploring from, which we did.The evening meals had plenty of choice, and same as breakfast, was plentiful. The Wednesday carvery was to die for, the meat was amazing, especially the beef! Mother in law was very impressed,as we all were. They made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be going back soon.

The rooms were clean and decorated to a decent standard. The beds were very comfortable.Breakfast was served between 8am and 9am with items selected the day before. The first day of our stay I requested sausage, bacon, poached egg, beans and mushrooms. When the food arrived I was very disappointed. The bacon was dry and like plastic, the sausage was dry and only one half was warm, as though it had been partially reheated in the microwave, the poached egg had been done in a poaching cup and was overdone. That evening I asked to change my breakfast order for the following day, to which the gentleman on the bar seemed amazed! I ordered porridge for the following day, that too was dreadful stodge that made me feel ill all day. On the last day I had toast. I had asked to change my breakfast order the previous evening, explaining that the porridge wasn't great. The following day, the gentleman who was normally chirpy and friendly was very off hand.Overall I think the venue offered value for money, although the £20 bottle of wine we bought from the bar tasted like vinegar. If, like us, you're looking for a base to use to explore the beautiful exmoor area then it's not too bad, but I'd recommend skipping breakfast altogether and visiting one of the many local tea rooms instead.

It was really nice and I loved it. The ice cream was delicious and I really loved my ham, chips and beans. This has been a great experience, even though my brother's milk was off. - from my niece! For the family it was very friendly and any issues were resolved quickly and without fuss. Also, the chicken gravy is to die for!
