Comfortable beds, clean rooms and friendly staff. They made Mum feel special with the lovely gifts in her room! They kept my dairy free, gluten free things cold in their fridge and I really appreciated that as no fridge in the room! Would recommend and return but the restaurant let them down unfortunately (lady manager on 4th March evening...as it seems reputation is more important than customer service or satisfaction. Otherwise would have been 5 stars from me.Views were stunning and location quite but close enough to town. Thanks to the staff at reception, especially the lovely lady who was there mostly during our stay...she went the extra mile and was so great!

I haven’t stayed at the hotel, only visited the cafe here. Staff are friendly, cafe is nice and clean, seating good with some nice panoramic views over Chesil Beach etc.Menu choices are good and the most important thing to me, is that they serve good coffee.Look forward to another visit.

First visit to The View for lunch with 4 family members...it was such an enjoyable experience. The food was really delicious and the menu was varied and imaginative. The staff were amazing, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, and brought the food to us quickly and without any fuss. Really impressed with the cleanliness of the tableware, the cutlery and glasses looked brand new. Will definitely be going back to try different things off the menu.

Rooms very dated and TVs lacking channel's. Rooms are clean but basic. Breakfast keeps moving from upstairs to downstairs, buffet then service. We left in a hurry a night early, called to say we had left our i phone charger that evening, no one prepared to go to room to collect, called back the next day and the expensive charger has somehow dissapeared. Wont be using this hotel again based purely on that dishonest act by either cleaning or reception staff.

This hotel is no frills but is great if you like walks. You can walk around Portland across the old quarries and the view at breakfast is delightful. The rooms are warm, clean and comfortable.

Tried out the "new" eatery which is now downstairs, recently open. The staff are nice. Big clap for them.Gutted the breathtaking ever-interesting panoramic view, when the cafe/bistro was upstairs, is no longer part and parcel of the experience and entertainment of going to the Heights and Portland for something to eat and do, people watching, and activity or none in the water; delightful; fun. I remembered looking forward to the event and relishing the little trip there. It was well worth the drive and also taking guests for the views and eats. The food tastes better when one is having fun and a cuppa leads to another . . .. More money spent later, everyone has had a good time.Have been there all times of the year; had high tea, Sunday lunches, evening meals, snacks or just coffee and even bought things from its "shop".Now it is just another cafe. I can't see myself going all the way there just for the sake of. Can't convince myself to go just for a bite when there are similar places nearer. The words of Joni Mitchell brought back, "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got til it's gone..." :'(
