Light and spacious family-run pub with a good selection of food and a rather basic selection of drinks (but the pub pub classics are there). The staff were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

We went to the Eight Kings for my grandsons 19th birthday, we were a party of 14, we were made to feel most welcome, lovely friendly atmosphere, the Sunday carvery was absolutely delicious and most importantly, the price is very reasonable. My wife and I will most certainly be returning.

Nice place, recently refurbished and looking good. Dogs welcomed in the bar area. We had a delicious roast carvery which was very well priced and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend

We had a very nice meal here while visiting my partner's family in Portland. The pub is quite small as is the dinning room but utterly charming. The dinning room was bright, colourful and had lots of "coastal" ornaments around. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was very nice.I had the cod and chips which was a lovely big piece of fish, a large portion of chips, peas and salad garnish. The only slight negative was the sachets of sauces.Although I understand the cost effectiveness of sachets having a nice, quality dish/ pot is always preferable to me.All 10 of us agreed this was a lovely place to eat and we all enjoyed the food.

Excellent food for a reasonable price with friendly staff. Booking is recommended as it is not too big. I had ribs and they it was amazing 😊

2nd time here whilst on holidays & yet another top notch carvery Sunday lunch! So tasty, generous portions, and so reasonably priced. Staff all lovely & friendly & so welcoming. Went out of their way to accommodate us in the beer garden as there were no tables left inside. Look forward to visiting again! Xx

Went on Saturday afternoon, doom bar was nice and fresh tasting. Card machine was broken so cash only or bank transfer.. the kitchen was fully booked for food despite it only catering for one large table apparently.

Went on a Thursday night when it was quiet. Still, fantastic waitress, great service with really good quality food. Thank you. Will be back. Edit: Returned a few weeks later ordered sirloin medium rare from a stressed waitress. A tiny piece of meat arrived that had been cremated, so was dry with no flavour. Burnt onion rings and a few chips. Left still feeling hungry. Won't return.

This pub must have recently changed hands as it wasn't the same place we came to last year. Place smelled of fat as we walked in. I ordered a chilli which was the worst chilli I have ever had. I even had to pay for the rice separately. It was mainly rice with peppers hardly any flavour meat or sauce I didn't bother ordering a sweet so one glass of wine and a tasteless dish cost me 18.00. Shame because it used to be a lovely pub with great food! Won't be going again.
