We stayed for one night with our dog in a great room with a massive bed. Had evening meal and breakfast and must say the food was excellent. I didn't want eggs with my gammon and they were happy to change to peas for me and breakfast cooked exactly as asked. Will definitely stay here again as one of the better dog friendly places we have been.

Came down on holiday at the nearby campsite and decided to come here after a lackluster takeaway the night before, boy oh boy did they not disappoint! Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere and some of the best food I've had in a long time! You can clearly tell its all made fresh using the freshest ingredients! Top quality place to come if your in the area and are in need of a bite to eat, proper classic English pub! 100% reccomended.

Had the pulled pork burger and fries, after roughly an hour wait our food eventually arrived. Much to my surprise the fries were cold, burger had the smallest amount of pulled pork with the rest of it on the luke warm side of warm. The other half enjoyed her sausages and mash, though. For dessert, I chose the Lotus Biscoff sundae which for some reason made me feel I have covid because it was so tasteless. A good half of it being 'topped off' with squirty cream.Staff are pleasant though and interior decoration is done really quite well. Just a shame we both felt really quite cold.On to the accomodation.I feel money is better spent elsewhere. We stayed in the accommodation at Spice Ship for a two night stay at £90 per night and although this may well be reflecting the local area rates, the rate certainly does not reflect the quality, comfort and cleanliness of the room offered. Room number 3 in question. We were first greeted by filthy tracks in the carpet leading to the room and once inside, filthy window and frames, cracked ceiling, dust matted bathroom fan, mouldy black drain plug which needs to have the cover taken off or the shower tray overflows, a TV and Freesat box but missing TV remote and batteries previously removed from the freesat controller and two blown ceiling light bulbs, A shower head full of limescale that wasn't working properly until I cleaned it myself, no non slip mat in the shower to cater for those with accessibility requirements.A really uncomfortable bed which creaks so loudly with every small movement made, dirty carpet which I'm sure hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner for quite a while. The one positive thing I can say about this room was the mixer shower. Nice and powerful. There isn't any forced ventilation in the room, not even a fan so with the busy main road next to the window those of you who are light sleepers may really struggle to get any decent sleep.Overall, I feel quite cheated with the stay here and I don't know if we stayed at a 'bad time' for the establishment but either way I don't feel I could ever return here when compared to some of the beautiful and cheaper places available on AirBnB.The Spice Ship really needs to up their game or drop the rates, just under £200 for a two night stay is not value for money with the conditions met.

Lovely place, staff friendly, completely brilliant, good sense of humour and went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable. Room was clean and shower had good pressure. As well as having the basics covered, they also had a good selection of gins. Breakfast was amazing, coffee was perfect. Great stay for a good price, we highly recommend and will stay here again. Thank you, for taking such good care of us.

The pub itself was clean and comfortable and waiting staff were very pleasant. However food not good. My husband ordered the gammon and it was undercooked and the replacement was only just there. I had the pie which was OK but neither of us had any peas or greens with the meals. Meals sub standard and bland. Very disappointed and we will not be returning.

Had a really great experience last time we visited so thought we would try it again today, it was honestly polar opposite from the last time! I ordered the Louisiana burger to be told there's no buns, I was told I could have it without or pay nearly a fiver to have garlic bread as a substitute. I opted to go without, it was ok, the burger was a strange texture, wish I had ordered something different though. My partner had sausage, mash and peas it was mostly peas, wasn't great quality and the service was pretty poor.

My boyfriend and I had been turned away from two other pubs for sunday roasts because their kitchens had closed early so when we arrived at the Spice Ship and they welcomed us, we were so happy! Fept like Mary and Joseph on christmas day. We both had the roast beef and it was divine. They catered really well for allergies and intolerances too. Highly recommend the cauliflower cheese and filled yorkshire pudding sides!!! Jack looked after us and was brilliant! Pub atmosphere was so cosy and warm and inviting - if we lived locally we would be back frequently!!

A good range of choice on the menu for meat eaters and vegetarians (not quite so much for vegans in the main meals) however, the meal I ordered was yummy. The chef accommodated me changing Yorkshire pudding and peas for onion rings at no extra price (onion rings are normally a side dish at an extra cost). The prices were very reasonable (mine was £8.49) and the younger serving staff (food and drink) were very pleasant and polite. If in the area again I would return 😊

We were visiting the local Haven site and we knew this pub was close by and was recommended to us.It was amazing. The food was really good, the atmosphere was great. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We reserved a table and were seated on the under cover decking, but there were plenty of seats out in the sun for people who hadn't booked. There was a TV on the wall showing football. There was a small play area for the children. Not too overpriced, going rate for the majority of pubs. Will definitely visit again.
