Bell House Hotel Restaurant & Bar in Wiltshire

We had a lovely Sunday Roast in the bar area of the hotel as we had a dog with us. We booked a table only 30 minutes before but were made to feel very welcome and our dog too. The bar area was cosy and the 2 course roast was very tasty and a bargain. We'll be back.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Somehow we managed to find a room here at the last minute with three beds for a reasonable cost. The beds were very comfy and the room was perfectly clean and tidy. It was a joy to wake up to apples on the ground, a beautiful dining room, and a hot delicious breakfast! I'd definitely stay here again.

Nice inside, but went in there only to be told "residents only tonight"! What's that all about? I'm new to the village too, but luckily there's a great pub 2 mins away.

Great location, sadly let down by an ignorant and rude manager. I arrived at short notice last night after a quick chat with the receptionist over the phone to check availability and parking etc as I had a jeep and trailer. Upon arrival I was greeted by the receptionist who actually came out to the car parking area and helped me to park, which was extremely helpful. A couple of hours later the manager arrived and immediately told me I couldn’t park in that area, to which I immediately offered to move... I explained that I had cleared it with the receptionist etc, to which his reply was “ but she's only a girl “ . This man has a pompous aggressive attitude and obviously has no respect for his own staff ( who for reference were extremely friendly and helpful) . I moved as requested but the feeling I got was that I wasn’t wanted by the manager on the premises. It’s really a shame because the staff are lovely but sadly let down by a rude and ignorant manager. HAVE SOME MANNERS!

The Bell House Hotel is a little gem. I booked in at the last moment as a base to go to Womad as a day visitor. The welcome was warm and helpful, the room was lovely - clean, nicely set up and cosy. The breakfast options are epic and delicious. I needed a fair bit of help and support as I'd recently had surgery - Chris and his staff could not have been more accommodating. Thoroughly recommended!!

We had lunch today and it was so awful it was almost funny - we were only permitted to look at a terrible brunch menu or offered two rather awful sounding roasts - neither appealed. I finally succumbed to mushrooms in a creamy sauce - that it was served on two slices of white sliced was frankly extraordinary! There are many good pubs to choose from and there is no excuse for this level of cooking!

Clean and comfortable room. Food excellent. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Improvements ongoing but didn't affect our stay. I would stay there again. Thanks to all staff involved in our stay.

We stayed over night last weekend as part of a football trip.The location is perfect,at the centre of a picturesque village,full of character,and close to Junction 17 of the M4. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. An excellent breakfast rounded off our stay,after a good nights sleep.There is ample parking,and well maintained grounds and gardens.The whole experience was very enjoyable,and I would definitely stay there again if I was looking for accommodation in the Chippenham area.

Not good first impression with poor condition of exterior. No one on reception so had to look around. Strong smell burning wood, builders are in fitting new floor in bar area. Room cold and very very dated. Damaged toilet seat, self closer on fire door was gone, four light bulbs blown, water still in kettle from last person, window will not close properly so noisy and draughty, bathroom is out of the seventies and needs replacing. Won't be eating here or ever book a room here again.
