Nice local pub. Stopped for some food. Footpath right opposite to walk the dog. Dog friendly.

Had a wonderful lunch. Friendly service and great food. Given that we turned off the main road on spec when we saw their sign, we were very happy with our decision.

·

Lovely fresh food, served hot and in good time. Staff polite and happy to help. Top quality fish and chips. Would definitely recommend. Great menu choices and parking available. First time visiting and it was a great experience.

We had a great Sunday roast. The staff was really friendly and accommodated us with no problems. Constantly asking us if all was fine. Worth the detour from the A303

Chilmark's local pub. Very nice pub food with friendly staff. Fairly quiet last time we went, but it was mid-week. Hope it can manage to stay afloat in these challenging times.

Stopped in with my Partner & my mother, after leaving the A303 looking for somewhere to let the dogs out the car on a long journey. Popped inside to check they were dog friendly first, and was welcomed in, even with two very excitable spaniels. The bar staff were brilliant with customers, brilliant with the dogs & the food was great too. We will definitely visit again next time we do this trip, maybe even on the way back!

We were just passing on a Sunday lunchtime. Called in on the off-chance that we could have dinner. Although it was busy, we were accommodated without any fuss and we had a yummy roast dinner for 3.There is a good range of real ales.Friendly and attentive bar staff and a lovely traditional old pub feel to the place.Top marks!

Lovely country pub that is dog friendly. We stopped off for food on the way back from Essex and were so happy to find this little gem.The staff are so friendly and even though there was a mix up with our food order it all got sorted and our meal was absolutely delicious. If you are ever in the area don't hesitate to visit The Black Dog 👍P. S the choice of real ales was also great.

Under new management 2020. Friendly staff, covid compliance. Food was perfect. If passing again, would stop. Dog friendly.

Prior to visiting Stonehenge, my family and I decided to grab lunch based on a list of recommended pubs in the area. The pub itself was very nice (has historical link to Martha’s Vineyard, MA in the USA), but we found the service mediocre and the food portion on a modest side. The server was initially very helpful and attentive but sadly this was not kept to the same level throughout the meal (there were two servers and one person at the bar with 6 tables occupied). Firstly, after letting the bar know that the ale my partner’s brother-in-law had was flat, he didn’t get a replacement until the latter half of his meal (he had to collect his replacement ale after giving up waiting at the table). Secondly, I had to get my own new napkin 10 mins later after I asked for another napkin to the server (as I’ve used my original napkin to swat a fly before the food was served). Thirdly, whilst I understand the concept of portion control in pubs and restaurant, I found the fish to be on the modest size considering the price for the fish & chips - £17.95.Overall, the pub itself has great charm but the quality of service definitely let the establishment down.
