We stayed at the Inn for a couple of days when we visited Longleat. The location is convenient with quick access to local sites. There is a nice big garden with a stream. For electric car owners, there's a petrol station with a 50kwh (50p/kWh!) charging point across the road. The inn is on a crossroads of two busy roads and the garden gets very busy and loud, therefore this isn't what I would call a "quiet" place, the room was OK, but dated and could do with a refresh (bathroom in particular). We had our two year old with us and we had to line the base of the cot provided with towels as the mattress provided was way too thin and hard. The food was OK, but due to it being an Easter weekend, the service was slow. Overall, the stay worked out way too pricey for the service received, but I am guessing the owners were capitalising on it being a BH weekend

A very sad place with friendly staff. Unhygienic public areas where the smell of urin and boiled cabbage is haning. Housekeeping would receive an overall rating of 1/10. The food might be "OK" on the weekends, otherwise they serve substandard dishes. The room rates are unjustified. I feel so sorry for this place.

Just stopped for a light lunch. Very busy but staff dealt with it efficiently. Nice bowl of soup and drink and would be very happy to return.

My other half and I had a lovely meal and a fantastic room. Friendly staff. Opt for the £10 extra cooked breakfast. It's very good

Was ok, I feel the experience was slightly tainted by an other customer who felt it was her place to dictate what other people got because she didn't like certain things. The front of house staff felt like they didn't want to be there. But the orange juice was really good but for £3 for a glass of box orange juice is abit much

A wonderful Sunday roast here. There is a good selection of other meals too to suit everyone. Very good friendly service from the staff. Would definitely recommend the George Inn.The food is delicious.

Absolutely love this place, the food has always been amazing & it’s in a lovely setting. We’ve had the option of the set lunch menu or normal main menu both times we’ve visited and the set lunch is such good value for money. 2 courses for £12.95 - you can’t go wrong, and there is lots of choice!! All the staff were very friendly & welcoming to both us and our dog (she was offered endless biscuits!). We usually go for a nice dog walk around Shearwater and then stop off at the George for lunch after. Only criticism is that we had quite a long wait for good one time, but I would say the food was worth the wait.I’d recommend the grilled chicken & bacon ciabatta and the fish finger ciabatta (both on the lunch menu). The fish & chips and burger was also very nice.

Didn’t stay over at The George we called in for food and we can honestly say it was delicious.Freshly cooked and nice and hot. I had the steak and my husband ordered pie of the day and we were both really pleased with the quality of both dishes.Highly recommended.

Very nice clean and cozy pub, restaurant and hotel. Everything was outstanding but waiting times for food was very long. 45 minute wait for a soup... room was very nice. Lovely soaps/shampoo in room too.
