Rude and impatient receptionist. Rooms clean but dated. Overpriced and fussy menu. Not great value for money. There are better places in the area.In reply; the lady booking me in interrupted me when I was introducing myself, I obviously wasn't fast enough. Perhaps I should have done away with the pleasantries and just stated name and number. I seemed to then annoy her further when I didn't commit to booking a table for breakfast. I was clearly inconveniencing this person who obviously had more urgent matters to attend to. I will concede 'rude' may be to stronger a description but certainly 'abrupt'.There was only one person behind the desk when I booked in so it's a shame I didn't see you (the owner) unless of course it was you who booked me in which may explain your attitude.

We visited based on finding this online and I took my Mum for a celebratory Mother's Day lunch. It was a gamble because some reviews are glowing but others not as much. Well, I needn't have worried. I was called three times to confirm the booking which meant I knew there wouldn't be a risk of them forgetting about us! We had 18°c on the day, and arrived to a stunning table overlooking the beautiful grounds. We got iced tap water and a little loaf style bread roll and butter. I should probably be giving four stars because the service at times was slow and we didn't get an ice bucket on a warm day for our wine, but later overheard that four people had called in sick with covid meaning two women were servicing the whole dining room. But I'm giving it five stars because although being slow, they were charming and the food wasn't delayed, just clearing away was. The set menu was superb, perfectly cooked and presented and "impressive" all three courses for £30 was real value. When we went to leave we paid at reception and Mum was given a beautiful rose plant in Baby pink (her favourite) and a box of chocolates. A surprise which was such a nice treat. She felt special and valued and we had the most amazing day wandering the grounds and making memories. Thank you to the staff for working so hard given the circumstances and making it such a lovely meal for us. We will be back.

Lovely grounds and setting, nice lounge and overall good service. Rooms are old and classic as you'd expect from a building this age. Breakfast to order on the first morning was very good, however the buffet on the second wasn't well managed so ran out of items and not replenished. Minor in the grand scheme of things.

Lovely, welcoming staff, very comfortable bed. Food was brilliant. One moan, loud banging noise when heating came on in the morning. Real little gem.

·

Lovely setting, generally clean and tidy, although was upgraded to a bigger room after complaining of a quite dusty and quickly cleaned initially allocated room. Some staff very nice, others not so welcoming, food very good. Attention to detail missing..as had to ask for cutlery before breakfast went cold..

Guyers hosted our wedding for 75 guests in October and were incredible. Through all the troubles of organising a wedding through the pandemic they were patient and helped us along the way. After needing to delay our original date they stuck with us and reorganised efficiently saving us so much stress and finding a new date quickly. On the day, everything ran so smoothly for us and the staff took care of everything. When we needed them they were there, and when we wanted space they left us to it. It was perfect. They were flexible with room changes and table plan/meal edits - I can't stress enough how welcoming and accommodating they are. Finally, our pictures have come out utterly stunning. The grounds and building are beautiful with an amazingly colourful backdrop for our special day. We had full use of the property and it made it so easy to relax and enjoy the perfect day. 1000% recommended (we also stayed there for 3 trips before the main day and every time they were equally delightful and welcoming). Thank you, Hannah and Sam x

A really special experience. Set in lovely grounds this place should be high on anyone's visit list. The staff were amazingly friendly and the evening meal was superb. The full english was the best I have had in years. To top it all off, this place made Betsy the dog feel most welcome. 5 stars all day long

Really like this hotel. Off the beaten track and you can always find a quiet place to sit and relax. The afternoon tea looks delicious and it also makes for a wonderful Wedding venue. The gardens are lovely and I spotted a tennis court. Haven't eaten there yet but absolutely will very soon. Will try the Sunday roast for sure as have heard good things.
