What a wonderful old building! Twisty and turny and kooky and crooked: every bit a classic old pub. Fabulous fine food too - with many venison options - and a decent selection of well kept real ale as well. I would come here often if I lived nearby!

Welcoming staff. Excellent menu and food quality. Lovely atmosphere and warm fire which was brilliant on a cold day.

The building and the experience were amazing! Food was great - I highly recommend it! Just read some bits of history that made me think - I want to go back just for the feel of having been in the place some more! Staff and service were wonderful - highly recommend it

Love this pub. Full of history. Serves real ales. Can get very busy as pub seating areas are limited.

Great food, modern interpretations of classic dishes in a magical atmosphere in this 700 year old building.

Absolutely superlative pub, it’s unreal thinking to dine in such an old venue…it’s fascinating! The food is excellent, we had the venison casserole and the trio of venison and they were delicious, rich, tasty…definitely a delightful dinner.Highly recommended to whoever will have the pleasure to visit the stunning Salisbury 🤩

We visited The Hunch of Venison for lunch yesterday and sadly they didn't have available the twice cooked pork belly...on valentines day lunch the head chef didn't plan the full menu availability (while we were there 3 other people wanted to order it) 😫 2 star for the organisation, however we really enjoyed the slow braised pigs cheeks and trio of Venison!!! We will visit again because we really want to try the twice cooked pork belly 😋

Have been to this pub several times. It has good old world charm and a good range of beers. However, getting served is a nightmare. We have seen numerous people waiting to get served where the staff have walked away without looking at them. This has also happened to us on several occasions. On one previous visit we struggled to get served then overheard the staff member telling (possibly a manager) how busy he had been. NOT BUSY SERVING US!On our latest visit we walked in and sat down in their small bar. A staff member who was behind the counter did not even look at us so my husband decided to say "hello" to her. She did not acknowledge us and left the bar (it looked like she was making up drinks for the restaurant). We waited for about five minutes and then left to drink elsewhere. We have been thinking about going to eat there but will never set foot in there again. EVER!

What a gem ! Regarded as the oldest pub in Salisbury, it's worth a stop.Quaint exterior , very very cool and antique interior. The decor is the perfect vibe for a drink. The downstairs bar and mezzanine alcove are perfect for chilling and nursing a beer. The selection of cask ales is good but short. Good selection of spirits.Their menu is excellent and food very very tasty.Yummy ! 😀
