Normally I would avoid hotel restaurants but do t avoid this one! Food is of very high standard and the waiting staff are excellent. The bar has a superb cocktail menu and will also make the standard ones of course.Only reason to drop a star was than the menu is (understandably in these times) limited.I usually go for menu items I can't or wouldn't be bothered to cook myself at home, I am paying for that difference and a couple of the options might not meet that criteria thus reducing the options. But do go, it's not the most expensive restaurant in the town but may be the best.

Went for Sunday lunch with family. The staff were amazing, also the best Sunday lunch I've had in ages 😋. I highly recommend the beef and will definitely be returning soon.

A fantastic hotel with amazing character , lots of history.Unfortunately I found that for what we paid for the room I would have expected a little more. I just felt I was ripped off slightly and have had more for my money in other hotels. The breakfast was nice in the morning but I asked for condiments but they never arrived , toast arrived way before breakfast so was cold . I understand it was new year s day but it's not hard to have warm toast and sauces readily available 🤔

I stayed for 2 nights - Xmas Eve and Xmas day. What a wonderful hotel and such friendly, efficient staff. Nothing was too much trouble! The room was well decorated, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The food, delicious and well presented. Each time you left your room for a meal a gift was left for your return, be it a small bottle of port, couple of little chocolates and a little card with inspirational quotes etc. Nice touch! I loved it so much I've booked to come back for New Years Day lunch. Big shout out to Sean, Elaine, Chloe and Helen who were made sure my stay was wonderful!! Thanks so much. Nicky💞

We had a single overnight stay here with dinner and breakfast. We found that the staff were very friendly and helpful. The manager is very hands-on and was often to be seen keeping an eye on things. The room we had was comfortable and well appointed. Dinner was excellent and we had the good fortune to have Jack for our waiter who looked after us attentively without being overbearing. All options on the breakfast menu were included and it was full of delicious options. They even did their best to accommodate special requests. The bar was cosy with an open fire and we had our coffee there.Hoping to stay again some time.

I want to love The Old Bell but something is missing; I think it's cosiness if that makes sense. The new owners have spent a lot on renovations (the wall paper is amazing) but the rooms echo ... maybe some extra rugs on the floor ... I just feel there is something missing as this should be the premier place to visit for eating/having a night out in Malmesbury (you're certainly paying for it with cocktails around £12 a pop). In summary The Old Bell is good, it's just not great (yet). Review Oct 2021 (I'll return again and update my review in a few months as this may just be opening teething problems).

Absolutely loved The Old Bell's new transformation! The restaurant is really special and looks phenomenal.Atmosphere, service, food are all wonderful. The steak was sublime......On this occasion, we were particularly impressed by the fantastic staff as we had made a bit of a reservation error, and managed to book ourselves in for dinner for two at 8am instead of 8pm.... Oops (!) but they managed to accommodate us with minimal fuss, which was hugely appreciated. The value and quality of the meal we experienced at The Old Bell was superb and we will definitely be back! The pudding and pepper corn sauce was to die for!Thank you so much.Michelle and Simon SteadPerfection Skin and Beauty Clinic

Besides being the most gorgeous location, situated as it is overlooking the valley of the river Avon, the staff, their service and the food were nothing short of superb ! And very reasonably priced - especially for the quality of cuisine. We began our visit late in the afternoon with tea and coffee but were so taken with the charms of the place, that we stayed there for several hours simply soaking up the charming atmosphere of the place and generally being in the company of residents and visitors who also clearly loved the place. In particular, we were most appreciative of having one of the more senior members of staff making the rounds of her guests; enquiring as to our well being and giving us a delightful and very personal resume of the history and facilities of the hotel. Just so charming, really. And when we did eventually get around to eating - having first taken a tour of the lounges and gardens, we were happy to select a really simple meal, fish and chips - from the bar menu. But nothing simple about the cooking - quality ingredients, lovingly presented and possibly the best chunky chips I have ever had ( bar those my mum used to produce ) !And a quality wine - to our taste at least, when we ordered the house red. And not all expensive, even before you consider the attentiveness of the service !On our way out, were able to look into one of the ground floor rooms ( another bonus ) of the annexe, and see that - for their quality, rooms were also very reasonably priced. We can't rate the place highly enough : English history by the bucket full; superb quality of its recent renovation, a charming location and the attentiveness of the staff. Well done !On
