This is a lovely place that's for sure. I guess I'm not the best person in the world when it comes to fancy food but I have had the chance to eat in many of the world's finest establishments. Let's talk food. The food here was not quite my thing but very good. I had crab tart to start which was delightful my friends had some sort of fish which was raw and marinated in lime juice. Interesting, I followed with lamb which was nice but again hummmm. My friends had. From Duck legs to Fish one was completely cold but we kept eating and chatting away. I don't like being harsh about giving feedback but I think the staff were not as experienced as you may think for the ÂŁ400 Bill. Could be I'm just a straight forward food guy these days and to posh is just me thinking it could have been just a bit more down to earth. If you like fancy food in a cute village in a cute pub that also has rooms then give it a go. I would love to know what the ÂŁ25.00 breakfast is like.

This place is like a secret haven for me. I come here on my motorcycle to get away from the stress of work. Superb selection of ales on tap, picturesque and secluded location, some of the friendliest staff I've met. Really glad I found this place!

Truly exemplary food, what an unexpected find.Went on a quiet Wednesday evening and expected good pub food, but what we had was very much michelin star quality.Service was very good but nicely relaxed. The Amouse Bouche was a Thai soup, with the most incredible flavour. The scallops starter was particularly good, the chateaubriand was perfection, easily some of the finest beef I've had. We were too full for deserts, but the coffee was excellent!Very much recommended, it's not cheap but it is excellent value.

A wonderful birthday celebration on a cold, wet and windy evening.A warm and welcoming freehouse, with the food of a Mayfair restaurant. The staff had personality, a sense of humour and a wonderful West Country accent!I'd recommend anyone staying in the local area, pay a visit to the Red Lion!

Overpriced the cheese soufflĂ© bland and tasteless the pork belly small and served with a few vegetables not worth the price didnât even finish it. The crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e was slightly burnt. The bread was good. Not somewhere we would go back to expect more for ÂŁ47 per head.

Outstanding food the Chef is to be congratulated on keeping the standards up when a mid week empty restaurant. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the welcome, energy and enthusiasm of the waiting staff.

Superb birthday lunch in a warm friendly atmosphere. Excellent food, very friendly staff, and lovely treatment of a grandfather's occasion.

Keep coming down Londoners and spending your money here in Wiltshire! For the locals there are plenty of pubs that are just as good within 10 miles, that are less pleased with themselves and with equally good food for less than half the price. Resting on its expensive laurels.

Really wonderful food. I had the warm crab tart to start. I was expecting a round tart base with crab meat on top but it was more like a slice of a large quiche. It tasted absolutely fantastic - extremely light and fluffy like a soufflĂ© with a distinct taste of crab and subtle cheese. My girlfriend and I shared the Chateaubriand. It was as decadent as expected. Enormous with a delicious sauce and crisp, fluffy chips. The meat was beautifully pink inside but my only very slight criticism would be that I wished the outside of the meat had a more seared, âmartmiteyâ flavour.

Has a great reputation but perhaps the kitchen is not at its best just now. Our starters were good but 3 out of 4 mains were disappointing. Our previous visits everyone was thrilled. Front of house continues to be good and the marque in the garden works if it isn't too cold
