Now called Pettifers, rooms a bit basic but lobby has been nicely refurbished. Good experience, nice food, friendly staff. Pettifers...

The atmosphere is nice and steady and food looks nice but never eaten there , just had the odd drink or two

The bedrooms were clean, warm and comfortable. The staff were so friendly, and helpful; with special praise for the chef, who pulled out all the stops to give us a super Sunday roast, even though it was not on the menu for the evening. It was so appreciated by the 4 of us.

The food is amazing and the staff are really nice. Everything leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are very basic and really not clean with a smell of mould and damp throughout. You hear every noise from other guests during the night, including snoring from the floor above and the next room.

Dreadful "Standard" room very close to busy main A429so little or no sleep. Unheated on arrival & needed to ask twice for heating to be turned on & fan heater provided. No glasses in room for water (softened from tap) & bottled water at reception pricey.Food very good (except paltry cheeseboard normally at extra cost).Majority of staff friendly & helpfulBooked 2 nights but didn't bother staying for second. Would not recommend & unlikely to use Best Western again.

Just a quick message to thank the management and staff at Mayfield House for making us feel so welcome and valued during our Christmas stay. We really enjoyed the warmth of the ambience and the attentiveness of the staff. The room was very comfortable and we appreciate the lengths that you went to, to make us feel so comfortable. The meals and service were first class throughout our stay and we wish you every continuing success with your plans for the hotel. Regards Vince, Glaucia and Natalia

The food in the evening was exceptional and the staff friendly and helpful. However there was no air-conditioning and the room was extremely warm in summer. The water pressure for the shower was extremely low giving only a trickle of water. Areas inside of the hotel could do with a redecoration.

When we arrived, we discovered that we were not on the list of expected guests on the day. We were found a room eventually as we had paperwork to prove the booking. The "superior" room we booked for was from the 70s with ageing decor and furniture. The handle of the wardrobe was missing, the shaving light in the bathroom didn't work, nor did the extractor fan.We should have received a bottle of wine on arrival, as part of the package, but didn't until we asked for it, as well as dressing gowns supposed to be in all superior rooms until we asked for them, the policy seems to be don't give, unless asked for.The full English breakfast didn't come with baked beans, on the first morning, on the second, I specifically asked for them. I was then told that they had none the previous morning, hence not being served, but no one told us.However, their sandwiches were nicely filled and the chips chunky and cooked well. Good for one night for tired travellers and anyone prepared to keep a blind eye.

Service was great! Very pleased with the location as a centre for enjoying this beautiful area. The accommodation was clean, spacious, comfortable and had character, the food was tasty with an interesting menu. Parking was good. We paid via Groupon vouchers which made our stay excellent value. Criticisms are the high price of drinks at the bar and the signs of tiredness in the property - showers not working smoothly, split floor covering in one bathroom, and a sticking door lock for example, though nothing awful. Would we stay here again? Definitely yes.

My wife and I stayed at the above hotel as part of the Cotswold Gardens Tour package offered by Brightwater Holiday Co. We stayed for 3 nights from Tuesday to Friday. We were so pleased with the facilities and treatment by staff that we have decided to go there again some time. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, including the bathroom. We found the staff very courteous and friendly. The food was delicious with plenty of choice and variety. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to our friends.
