Popped in for an evening drink to watch the sun go down, it says welcome above the door and that’s about as far as the welcome goes. 2 members of staff and I think the owner stood at the bar who said beverage or food and beverage? I said beverage and he replied there is a bar outside in the garden use that. We got back in our car and left.luckily there are an abundance of very good friendly pubs in the area and now I’ll spend my hard earned money with them thank you very much. I have recommended the rising sun on many occasions to friends but now I’ll recommend the Bell just down the road the Red Lion in lacock village.Politeness and customer service goes a long way, next time someone wants to spend their money with you look after them!

Absolutely superb. The roast dinner sharing board was cooked perfectly, and tasted great. The service was top notch, and we had the pleasure of sitting outside in one of the domes. It was toasty, and was fixed down so when it was raining and windy, we were fine.Recommend for anyone and families, as they also have a small play area.

Didn't enjoy the lamb flatbread starter, wasn't enough sour cream and lamb pieces was far too over done, hubbie finished mine. The Burger was lovely and so was the sticky toffee pudding. Would definitely visit again to try other menu items.

We came here for a Sunday Roast after recommendations from friends & were pleasantly surprised. The roast dinner comes on a sharing board between 2 and you can help yourself to all the trimmings. We both went for the roast beef which was cooked perfectly!! Dogs are welcome which was good for us. Only 4 stars as I didn’t think the dessert selection was very good.

The food here is so good, we had a roast platter, the beef was cooked absolutely perfectly, lovely and rare, and the belly pork melted in your mouth. I would recommend you have a dessert as they are so unique and delicious! Some lovely local ales and lagers on tap too. Service was excellent and they are dog friendly!!!

Disappointing, this establishment is a lovely place in a fantastic location. However we stopped for a hot snack and a beer. Two of our party were unhappy with our sandwich, when we remarked this to the person in charge he made a less than funny reply. The other members of staff were very good. Not sure if we'll return.

Friendly service, food was great. Only complaint would be that the pub itself was quite cold. Would definitely return summer time for the beautiful view and drink in the garden.

We visited for Sunday lunch in October and this lovely old pub was busy, but well staffed and efficiently run. The roasts were excellent and the friendly staff made our visit a very pleasant one. The pub is also dog friendly. Recommended.

Popped in after work today as it had been recommended by the chef at a building where I was working. Had the hake which was perfectly cooked and the dish had some lovely flavours. Also had the panna cotta for dessert which was also excellent. Great service. Highly recommended and hopefully I'll be back before the end of the week.
