Great position short walk into the centre of Salisbury terrace right on the River Avon, desperately needs a warmer atmosphere, plants, candles etc. Bed was comfy all very clean and large too, bedroom 08b location was terrible large Biffa bins right by windows and very noisy early in the morning. We did however get a very good price, thanks James. The bar manager is superb and very friendly and knowledgeable. I guess the garden rooms are best certainly for the views across the river.

Location excellent, easy walking distance into the city centre. We were in room 4 in the original building which meant it was a tad small but functional. Comments to make are that a toilet brush in the bathroom would have been nice and for the drinks, biscuits and body wash to be replenished daily rather than only when the room was serviced by request. We would agree that the dinner menu was limited. Our stay was 4 nights and on 3 of those the soup was leek and potato! Also, 2 of the main courses were unavailable for at least one of the nights.Breakfast was lovely, especially on the 2 mornings when the food was cooked to order. One criticism would be that sachets of condiments, whilst OK for breakfast, could have been replaced by small individual pots for dinner. Finally, as my husband is a bitter drinker, he was disappointed to find no alternative to IPA beers and lagers apart from Guinness.Staff were all accommodating, polite and very helpful.

A no-frills hotel, but plenty of positives. The hotel looks a little tired and dated. The rooms could also do with an update. We were disappointed to see the hotel didn't serve cocktails and the dinner menu seemed quite limited. With all that being said, for the price paid, the hotel was fine. There seemed to be enough parking. Good location because there are plenty of attractions nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful - particularly the gentleman at reception who was incredibly pleasant and accommodating. Although the dinner was alright, the breakfast was delicious. I wouldn't rush to return, however, if I was staying in the area again, I know this hotel would provide all I need and I'd be confident the staff would ensure I'd have a lovely stay.

Super friendly and helpful receptionist who offered us a 'cheeky upgrade' when checking in. Of course we accepted. Truly great breakfast which we both enjoyed. Plenty of cooked options, a lovely cold buffet. Our room was spacious with a view over the river and cathedral. Very comfortable bed, we both had a really good night's sleep even though it was blowing a gale outside. We've already decided that we will be back in the not too distant future.

Enjoyed a very reasonably priced stay at the Rose & Crown in late January. Parking was easy and coming from the west allows you to basically boycott the big Salisbury roundabouts (great for anyone who doesn't like driving in unfamiliar places). The road leading there is a little country one and it's out of the main city but very walkable. The building is gorgeous and the staff will very kindly allow you to leave your vehicle in the car park after checking out. The garden seating area overlooking the river is beautiful, unfortunately we had a couple of very cloudy days but I can imagine this is stunning at the height of summer. The view from the room of the river and beyond was great, could see the Spire clearly. The eggs benedict was gorgeous but I will say the full English was definitely too large for me! There are continental breakfast buffet options in addition. The only thing I would say let it down slightly was that we had impeccable fast service for our first breakfast, but the second day was much slower, I can only assume due to food shortages (some items appeared to be substituted or duplicated where they hadn't been the previous morning, increasing the portion size even further - I did manage to eat most of it!) and perhaps the fact more people had turned up simultaneously for breakfast that day. I'd give it a 9 out of 10! If I'm ever back in Salisbury, and the price stays this reasonable, I'd stay again for sure.

Nice hotel enjoyed my stay here room was lovely, clean and very spacious which is good. The girl on reception was lovely and very welcoming couldn't have been any nicer. Loads nearby and the views are lovely also.

Nice hotel on the river. Picturesque views from the restaurant and bar. Good outside space. Nice old building with character. Did not stay overnight so cannot comment on the rooms.

Food was decent, £17.95 for a Sunday lunch. Steep but decided to pay it and was ok, better than an average Sunday lunch but I have eaten better during my time. The reason the stars tumble is because I had a pint of larger. Can't recall the brand but a standard mainline brand. £6 per pint. I don't need to say anymore.

We held our Association Christmas Lunch at the Rose and Crown. Rachel the Events Manager was very accommodating and helpful throughput the booking and organising process and really went the extra mile to ensure our needs were catered for. On the day the hotel team made us feel very welcome. The lunch itself was very good quality and the service was excellent too. I'd recommend the venue to anyone looking to hold a similar function, the location and facilities were great.

Stopped in this fabulous hotel last night.I have no idea how anyone can not give this 4-5*. From the start the staff are amazing, friendly, very helpful and welcoming. Our room is beautiful with super-king size bed and doors in to a patio overlooking the river a few feet away. Spotlessly clean and incredibly comfy. Food was delicious, breakfast great quality and plentiful. Well done Rose and Crown. Cannot wait for a return visit 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
