The Cathedral Hotel Restaurant in Wiltshire

Hotel is dirty and in a bad state of disrepair. Black mould, peeling paint and wallpaper, damp and bubbled plaster. Damaged furniture, ripped curtains, chairs you can't sit on because they are too loose. Lift not easily accessible as keys have all been misplaced! Walked in and walked back out! All three rooms booked were disgusting. Only good thing, the staff were polite and gave our refund with out argument.Websites photos do not reflect how it actually is. I wouldn't even recommend this hotel to my ex husband!!!

Rooms are okay. No lift. My mother ordered the Full English breakfast and it was really good. The Salmon and egg I ordered was not well seasoned. The cabinet in my room was leaning towards one side and we decided to call it The Leaning Cabinet of Salisbury. Bed was really soft and comfy.

My dogs have a better place to sleep in my utility room. Dirty, dangerous electric and terribly loud even when it is a Sunday night. You are better off going wild camping, as at least you have moss to make a comfy bed and a campfire to keep you warm. Such a shame as it is a great location.

Good location and a friendly welcome. After that, all downhill. The lift needs a member of staff to unlock the door every time you want to head to your room. Our bedroom was thick with flies and room service had no fly killer. The main light didn’t work and neither did the huge ceiling fan. Warning notices on some of the windows saying ‘do not open’ was down to rotting frames. The room was tatty with plenty of stains, rotting wood, peeling wall paper and bodged repairs. The bed at a single pillow each for my wife and I but was comfortable enough. We were on the third floor at the front and the street was very noisy (not the hotels fault, obviously but something to be aware of). The outside bar opposite was still in full swing at 02.00 with a lively crowd so getting a decent nights sleep was impossible. Breakfast was efficient but poorly cooked - my fried egg was done to a crisp and when my wife asked for a tomato in her veggie choice, she was told ‘we don’t have any’. My full English arrived…..complete with a tomato! Trying to get back up to our room was a challenge as the two staff on duty didn’t have a lift key. When we left, we gave the key to the staff member on reception who took it without comment - no ‘thank you’ or any hint of something that might resemble customer service. For sure, £60 is a competitive room rate and if you do book, know that you get exactly what you pay for. It ain’t the Ritz, it ain’t even a Travelodge. But Salisbury was stunning and we found the whole hotel experience an amusing ‘Fawlty Towers’ style element of our weekend.

Came here for my mate’s 37th birthday, lots of space and playing the Spurs match and the boxing.Good atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks, then they remove the tables and chairs to create a dance floor, with music fairly late.

Starting with the good, the pub was fine, even if it was limited with what was available from the menu. Ideal for watching sport with loads of screens and options and the breakfast in the morning was pretty good considering it was included in the price of the room. Now for the bad. The room was bad. Everywhere you looked were issues. Cracked paint, damaged furniture, stained and worn carpets, stained linen, patches of mold in the bathroom, the list goes on. Ultimately you get what you pay for. If you want to drink till the early hours and just have to stumble upstairs at the end of the night, then as long as you don't mind roughing it, this place is fine. If you're looking to base yourself somewhere nice for a couple of days of exploring the city I would suggest you look elsewhere.

The staff is amazing and when Max is cooking. The food is amazing, definitely the scramble egg! Rachel who surved us was lovely.The house keeper's dose a great job at keeping the place kinda clean.Remember this is pub, so it gets pretty loud on Friday and Saturday. The walls are thin, so you can hear everything! The shower leaks and the bed mattress is pretty lumpy. Plus finding the odd used underwear under the bed was a surprise....

Great place to stay. Staff have been really friendly and helpful. Spacious room with private bathroom was nice and warm and has everything you need.

We really enjoyed the food and location of this hotel. Easy to walk around the city including the Cathedral. The staff were really friendly and they could not do enough for us.

This place deserves no more than 1 star.The place is seriously in poor condition. There far to many problems that just have not been given any attention.The shower can't be used as the water is scolding hot and the tap can't turn the hot water down. Lighting switches does not work. Place is dirty. The only positive thing to say is. The waitress that serves breakfast is lovely.I am just wanting to mention. I complained this morning and again this afternoon about the noise on en suite door is very noisy. It would have only taken a couple of squirts of wd40. It has not been done and now the time is 18.31. they obviously don't give e S---.
