We stayed in the Plum Cottage for a couple of nights, it was very comfortable and wonderfully decorated.Although we could have self catered, the food was so delicious at the pub that we ate all our meals there.Wonderful hospitality all round. Will recommend to everyone I know. And we'll be back.

Lovely charming pub with lots of character. After a bit of a disappointment trying to get some lunch somewhere else that was closed (even when it stated it should be open) we turned up here with children and 2 dogs and the service and food quality was superb. They were very friendly and I cannot fault how welcome they made us feel. We would not hesitate to pop around again in our next visit around the area.

A wonderful place to both sleep and eat (and have a pint). The recently refurbished bedrooms are clean and comfortable. The historic pub is classic. The food is delicious (both breakfast and dinner). The service is great. And the setting is beautiful.

Amazing find! Ticks all the boxes you’d want for a lovely country pub, friendly (and dog-friendly), gorgeous decor, fine ales, historic. And also ticks boxes I didn’t expect- the Parmesan custard and anchovy toast is a genius, delicious snack and the rest of the menu is tempting too.

Went for a friend's birthday in a group. The food was great with the staff very helpful and friendly. Was a great meal for everyone, no one was disappointed, so fantastic all round.

It's such a charming building full of character. The staff are very attentive without being in your face, the food is incredible and it came out very quickly. We will be coming back here again and I'm already telling my friends and family to check it out.

Wonderful small old pub without pretensions, serving quality British menu at very competitive prices. Lovely bedrooms as well and very dog friendly. Will definitely return.

The Compasses is a lovely old pub with low beams and a welcoming wood burning fire. They have a fairly good selection of real ales and a nice wine list. The food is excellent and all the staff are very friendly. Highly recommended, and if it's meal you're after, book in plenty of time, it can get pretty busy, especially at the weekends.

Lovely old English inn with lots of authentic charm. Really varied menu which normally causes alarm bells for me but it was excellent. One of the best curry’s I’ve had in the UK. Partners food was also good quality and delicious. Saved to favourites and will definitely visit again next time I’m in the area.

We stayed for two excellent nights. The staff were excellent, as was the food and menu and the room. We will definitely return. It is a stunning and original building in a beautiful location, relatively remote.....It is very popular for evening meals which are excellent.....Best to book in advance.
