The George Inn in Wiltshire

Booked in for a Sunday Roast. One of the most expensive roasts we have had and unfortunately did not live up to the price charged. The 2 roast potatoes that you get were hard & not very well roasted (anaemic), the piece of parsnip was soft/soggy and came with a piece of carrot and boiled cabbage. Beef roast is 2 small slices of beef, chicken roast is a chicken leg & pork roast is a fatty piece of belly pork. The manager was friendly and gave us a discount for the potatoes being uncooked. We would not go there for a roast again, cannot comment on their other food.

Waited an hour after ordering before discovering our food hadn’t even started cooking yet. Very overpriced. Extremely slow service, staff weren’t very friendly. We never got our food. Or an apology.

An overnight stay to visit the Christmas Trail at Stourhead. Nice comfortable twin room with everything we wanted. Had dinner and breakfast both lovely, well cooked and good quality.

Lovely, quaint hostelry. Large, well-appointed family room for overnight stay whilst visiting Stourhead. Stay spoiled by mould on kettle in room, dirt in bath, coffee splashes on cups, VERY "dubious" sink overflow - in short "bad" cleaning. In today's Covid environment - inexcusable - and ruined what otherwise should have been a "Gem" of a stay.

We stopped here instead of a serviced on the A303. The food was great and such a cosy and friendly place to relax and break up a long journey.

A very comfortable stay in this historical pub in the centre of Mere. The rooms were very clean and airy, low beams and sloping floors gave it quaint character. The family room was perfect for us. Evening meal average, breakfast good. Service all round was excellent.

Family room was perfect for us. The service we received was wonderful. The staff were so accommodating and could not docenough for us. Food at Dinner was excellent and the chef went out of his way to give my grandchildren food that was not on the menu. Breakfast was lovely as well. Thankyou to all 😊

Really good, we were on our way back from sorting family matters out in Devon and took a break there for lunch. We arrived just a few minutes before lunchtime service ended but they were very accommodating, very friendly and we had a lovely ploughman's lunch each, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service , beautiful location and we will at sometime hope to stay there to explore the local area too.
