Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Trowbridge, excellent access for Chippenham , Melksham, Bradford on Avon, Westbury etc.Nice comfy well appointed rooms in a quiet area. I was in room 15, but have stayed in many others before this trip.

I stayed here as I was working close by. The room was beautiful with a lovely view across the fields at the back, the bed was large and comfortable with everything I needed. The real winner was the food. I had a three course evening meal at the restaurant, I am vegan but that was not an issue for the chef. The chef here is incredible! I had the confit celeriac (with dehydrated olive crumbs) it was absolutely beautiful, the vegan option was not an afterthought with this talented chef, there was as much time, care and attention in the vegan option as there was with all other dishes on the menu. The two young ladies who were working in the restaurant were lovely, very attentive and made the experience enjoyable. Thank you and I look forward to returning

We had our wedding here, the venue is beautiful and the staff were great. Would highly recommended to anyone who is considering booking! Thanks again to the team for making the day so special!

It saddens me to write a review on such a beautiful venue. I got married here last month. After only seeing the Moonraker we loved it, it also had amazing reviews. We chose The Moonraker’s gold wedding package as we wanted a perfect wedding day…sadly that wasn’t what was received. Many things were wrong on the day, too many to mention on here. The biggest one was service, there just wasn’t enough staff to accommodate the size of our wedding, this was noticed by my guests…long wait times at the bar….dirty tables at breakfast…and a chaotic service at our wedding breakfast is just the start of it! The contract wasn’t upheld by The Moonraker, my wedding layout wasn’t what I had planned or agreed too, we had a bouncer with no SIA licence. The evening food (hogroast) was only available for a short time and taken away (even though we had paid for the meat) Prices of drinks changed… double rum an coke £8.60 on Saturday….£14.20 on the wedding day. My list continues. I am still waiting for a reply from senior management, I have been waiting since 26th Feb and still nothing. This was our wedding, a day we won’t ever get back, whilst Rachel (the only member of staff that has tried to help) has apologised and raised my issues with the staff on the day, I have been given no explanation as to why my wedding was a shambles and why so many things were wrong and not adhered to. It seems we were the ‘dummy wedding’ to highlight training issues. We have now chosen to go down the legal road, as our consumer rights have been breached. I hope from the mistakes made on my wedding day have been learnt and no other bride has to endure the stress I did on my wedding day.

An amazing wedding day! It could not have been any better! After postponing our wedding and changing the dates due to restrictions three times, we finally had the most perfect wedding and celebrations at The Moonraker in August 2021.I stayed at The Moonraker the night prior to our wedding, this enabled me and my team of helpers to decorate the marquee and get our decorations organised for the ceremony room. Lauren/Rachel and her team were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We got to know the chef and his team and felt very looked after and welcome. The atmosphere was relaxing and calm, with all staff knowing what their roles were and what should be happening etc.We booked out all of the hotel rooms meaning that our guests were able to arrive early on our wedding day and get ready in the comfort of their own rooms. The room rate was very affordable and extremely good value for the money. The breakfast was delicious and again nothing was too much trouble, with the chef cooking bespoke breakfasts for those who wanted something cooked in a particular way.On the morning of our wedding I was able to check that the ceremony room and the marquee was as I wanted it, although I could have trusted the Moonraker staff to follow my requests as it was just perfect.Throughout the day I felt relaxed and at ease knowing that Lauren/Rachel knew exactly what was happening and that the day we had planned was going as we requested. The waitresses were polite and helpful and guests mentioned what a warm and welcoming atmosphere the Moonraker had.The bedrooms are all different and can be chosen to meet the needs of your guests. We had several older relatives who needed level access, this was easily catered for. I particularly loved our room, number 17, which has several windows letting in lots of light and a separate walk in wardrobe/dressing area which was perfect for mine and the bridesmaids dresses. The marquee is bright and has opening doors onto a patio and garden, it can be laid out in different configurations to suit your needs. There are fairy lights along the pergola walkway leading up to the marquee, which look very pretty in the evening. We also liked the fact that guests were able to mingle and go outside to chat if they wanted to and that everything was in close proximity. After our ceremony, guests were able to socialise on the lawns outside the front of the hotel (where we chose to have our photographs taken) and on the terrace outside the ceremony room. Again, during this time, staff attended to our guests needs offering them drinks and canapes. This outside area has lights strung up which look very pretty in the evening and there are fire pits which can be lit if it is colder. During our evening entertainment (a live and very loud band!) several guests chose to sit outside where they were able to listen to the music and socialise. The wedding breakfast and evening buffet were just as we had ordered. The food was hot, cooked as we had stated and very plentiful. We had NO complaints from guests who all agreed that the food was delicious. Several guests had dietary requirements which were catered for and the staff serving the food knew who they were.At the end of our wedding day, which we didn't want to end, several of my family and I sat with staff and had a coffee and a chat. It was lovely to see that they all really enjoyed their jobs and obviously wanted to be there! It was the perfect end to a very special day that we will not forget for a long time.I would highly recommend The Moonraker and Rachels services for a wedding if you want a day that is relaxed, calm and stress free. The hotel is welcoming and warm and oozes character and charm. I will always remember how wonderful I felt on my wedding day and I am grateful to Lauren/Rachel for that. I wish I could do it all over again!

The food here is simply amazing. The accommodation is absolutely fine. Booked it because everything in Bath is stupid money. It’s great. Small menu done really well. Brought our baby and small dog. Ask for a room opposite the restaurant as the baby monitor reaches easily. Recommended. Thanks team 👍🏻

Quite by chance we booked one night on a Bed, breakfast and evening meal basis. On arrival we felt the welcoming atmosphere and all staff smiled as we passed them. Room was spacious, bed was amazing and spotlessly clean. On arrival for dinner we were presented with a good menu and selected our meal. Well it was absolutely amazing, beautifully cooked and presented. On retiring to bed we knew we wanted to stay another night so in morning easily arranged this with reception as there was availability. So impressed we booked again for April and believe me we cannot wait and we are taking some friends with us too. We are so lucky to have found this GEM and are really looking forwards to our next visit. We do not leave reviews usually but for this one we have made an exception. Graham and Sue Stewart.

Lovely food, very friendly staff but a little disappointed with the quality of the room. Paid for a Superior King and although clean, the room was right up in the roof, very small, the bed wasn't very big and the bathroom in need of a refresh.

Fantastic place. I was worried before the wedding after all the post Covid problems with the hospitality industry, but the staff did a great job. We could not have asked for more. Lovely rooms, exclusive use of the hotel. Thankyou so much

Great spot, lovely hotel. Such a shame about breakfast service, terrible. A little more attention from staff would be good. Had to ask for tea and coffee, which was brought to the table with no milk, had to get our own in a glass. No plates available, used tiny side plate. Just little things which make such a difference. What a shame. Oh and something scratching in the roof all night.
