We visited on the 23rd April (St Georges Day) for lunch with my brother and his wife, he had suggested the venue as he lives down the road and had made numerous visits. You have to turn off the A36 heading towards Salisbury and it it tucked away next to the remnants of the old road. We took up a position in the garden while we waited for the venue to open and bang on 12pm we were warmly greeted and offered any seat we like, so my brother chose the conservatory which afforded lovely views of the white bird lake.We had drink orders taken (No Coke Zero or Pepsi Max!!) and then we placed out orders. As per usual dear reader, I went with Scampi and chips, I was a little surprised not to see a steak based meal, be it beef or gammon. The meals were presented after about 15-20 minutes, all having been freshly prepared, the peas came in a separate dish covered in butter and mint which was delicious. The chips were home prepared, skins on and well cooked, the scampi was slightly over-cooked to the point a number of them had hard crusty and split exteriors, but a soaking in vinegar sorted that out. I'm not 100% convinced they were wholetail as they all possessed the exact same cylindrical shape.Overall it was a good meal out, and when visiting my brother again I'd be inclined to visit again.

We had an emergency stop off here on the way to the channel tunnel due to the other passengers needing a wee! As the A303 was lacking in bushes we went off piste and found this pub. Yes, the outside is tired but inside everyone is incredibly friendly. I tried one of the session ales which was marvellous. Hope to see you again.

Such an awesome find. Away from the craziness of stonehenge, a great pub in a lovely setting. Really friendly welcome and service and good food with good portion size. Catered well for the kids as well. We'll be making this a regular stop on our way down to the SW.

A real hidden gem.We found it by chance on the way to Cornwall. The service was excellent, with a charming a man who chatted and made us feel very welcome. The food was fantastic!! The made sandwiches and chips were incredible and the kids ate every bit. Really impressed and we will certainly stop here again on our way through.

A bloody good find!Such a brilliant family running the best of country pubs you can stumble across.Home cooked food at its finest. The burgers were huge and could tell they were home made.We didn’t get the owners name, but he made our children feel very welcome nothing was too much trouble. We visited Friday, and enjoyed it so much we needed to return for the next nightOf our stay. Can’t recommend enough! Thank you for your hospitality, the northerners.

Services was really friendly and view was great, had our own heater as cold, but soon warmed up. Food was basic, and big portions. Baby seats are available and changing area as well.

We popped in for a bite to eat on our way home from a trip to Plymouth seeing family. The food was lovely and the handmade burgers and homemade batter on the kids nuggets and our onions ring we're light, fluffy and crispy. Full credit to the chef. The location is gorgeous too with the view to the lake and the family run restaurant was do pleasant a quick stop became a two hour chill out before continuing our journey home.
