If you wanna waste your money, double the price (!), choose this hotelWe booked two rooms via booking.com for a night in late Dec. Before check in, the receptionist requested us to pay again despite we showed the online payment confirmation, and told us booking.com will refund us next day, otherwise the hotel will do (!) which was odd!Let’s forget about their poor service like the broken wifi, late service at the table, etc.Next day they told us we will refund soon but now 3 months are past with no refund! Meanwhile, we’ve tried to contact the hotel but each time they referred us to the manager that never responds the calls. So we sent him a message and despite he saw it he even didn’t bother to say a word! So we decided to follow up from booking.com.I had a very bad experience with this hotel and their service. Its a shame for such an old building in a beautiful location!

The worst meal I have ever had in Salisbury. The dining room was freezing cold, probably for economy reasons. The ale ran out half way through the evening. It took 1 hour and 10 minutes to receive a simple main course. Frankly inedible, I would have sent it back but after waiting more than an hour for it, I just didn’t have the time. There was no one to tell about it anyway. I ended up sharing my partners chicken pie which was mediocre but acceptable as it was a pre cooked mass production, heated up from frozen. The staff were all friendly and welcoming but this place doesn’t deserve to survive. The only reason it does is it’s beautiful location and the biggest problem is that they obviously know that and hence have no inclination to make any effort in any other way.

Don't book a 'Superior' room. You'll be wasting your money. Substandard, even for a standard room. Heating failed, 2 single sheets overlapping uncomfortably with no mattress cover underneath, dirty window frames & bath surround, shabby carpets throughout. Noisy neighbours at 2am, meaning we had to cancel our 2nd night & push for a refund.

We had stayed at the hotel a while ago and had a lovely stay, especially having a pint outside watching the river. The visit for a drink this time was disappointing due to a couple of drunk locals who seemed to think everyone needed to hear there comments. On a personal note, allowing dogs on pub seats is a massive mistake where food may be served. Unfortunately it soured our original opinion of this place. Rather sad for such a lovely position and building. Still, I guess a lot of pubs etc wouldn't survive without locals, so we understand that.

This was a very disappointing visit. We walked past the place regularly and often thought of visiting. This time we did - the service was slow, the coffee tasted like interesting coffee, the tables were not cleared (it was only on my 11.30). The views however are very lovely.

Stayed for 3 nights. VERY disappointed. Whole place was dirty, rooms were not up to standard, heating very temperamental and menu was very poor and food not particular nice. A real shame as building and location beautiful but let down by bad management and poor investment. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and obviously embarrassed by our complaints. With care and attention it could be a gold mine.

A bit of a wasted opportunity fur the owners. A lovely old building in a beautiful setting, but it's really been allowed to age badly - carpets when through, plaster hanging off the wall in the room, cracked sink.... The bar is lovely and cozy though, with friendly staff. The food was extremely variable - a good steak one night, very tasty (but not overly generous) breakfast, a terrible fish pie that was topped with cold instant mash. The rooms were clean and we had a comfortable stay. But I don't think we'd go back unless there was new management.

3 meals ordered and 2 were served totally burnt to a crisp. Why the chef thought these were edible meals defeats me. Absolutely dreadful. On the plus side the drinks and orders were taken by a helpful young lady who apologised profusely and also refunded some of our bill without question when she looked at our food. Very disappointing as we had a lovely meal here a few months ago.

Not the best stay TBH! Have stayed here several times but this could be the last. No hot water, which was being attended to in the morning after we had wanted a shower. A note under the door might have been helpful! The toilet roll holder was missing. Cobwebs in bathroom.Breakfast was ok and cooked fresh for each customer but no cereal or juices put out to help yourself! Juice was available if you asked for it. Toast came up on the plate with your main with butter but no jams etc. The place has got tired and they are cutting corners. We love the location and the walk into the city but it needs to do running repairs. Staff all friendly though.

Excellent welcome and check in. Beautiful location. A breakfast to be recommended. Grant is a professional at customer care and made our stay the best. The Back Bar was a marvellous place to spend the evening. I also enjoyed a superb sea bass in the beautiful Old Mill restaurant.
