Plus points, food didn't take long. Cons, place smelt of fish like a fish delivery just took place, food was greesey and not once did we have a table check. I've been to some lovely places locally and this isn't one of them.

tried this after holiday cottage owners recommended it. Sunday roast after a stourhead visit. carvery was best we've ever had! met a man there who said they go every other Sunday driving quite a way to get there it was so good . he was right. portion sizes good. tasty. lovely fresh veg cooked to perfection and gravy. felt very welcomed even though we hadn't booked a table in advance. Will definitely be coming back again

Gorgeous food. Lovely venue and friendly staff. Only downfall is being quite a popular pub it has a very small car park. Most of our group had to park in the surrounding housing estates.

Lovely meal as always ,I liked several choices on the menu ,but decided on the chicken in a lovely mushroom sauce, loved the potatoes and selection of vegetables.had a lovely pudding with forest fruits and meringue .Always enjoy the food here and the staff are always friendly and smiley .

Four of us had lunch there today. Food was fine. Not really a cosy English country pub that I expected, but not too bad.Found the staff very uninterested and seemed to be in a hurry to get rid of us.We booked by phone a few days ago but there was no booking when we arrived, it had not been written in their book. They fitted us in, but were very sullen.

The staff are very friendly and the service was quick. Good choice on menu. Fairly pricey food. Well spaced tables and nice ambience

A really lovely small, boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar. Rooms are a good size and quality, clean and in good repair. Staff were helpful and friendly, even offering to carry my bags. I came here expecting a typical British B&B experience and was blown away. Location is good, on the edge of the village, but a short walk from the delightful village centre. Mere itself is a gem of a place with interesting shops.

Away for the weekend and booked a fairly last minute table for a Sunday carvery. AMAZING! The beef was exceptional, plenty of veg choice AND crispy roasties. What more could you ask for. Only down side.... no room for pud!!

Lovely rooms which I couldn't fault. Bath and a shower in the ensuite. Evening meal choice was great and the food was very good. Would have been a five star but the breakfast came in the wrong order for me. Coffee was cold after the breakfast was eaten. But I would definitely recommend this place both to stay and to eat.

Came across this lovely place by chance as we looked for somewhere to rest on our journey home from Cornwall to the Midlands. The Walnut Tree happened to be about halfway. It's a lovely place, picturesque views all around. A good selection on the menu, and the food was really nice. Four of us had a good meal and a drink for around £66, which was we thought was good value for the quality and portion size. It's certainly a place we'd consider revisiting if we find ourselves nearby in the future.
