Just had a great meal, owner very friendly and made us welcome

Beautiful pub with friendly staff and a good selection of drinks, but subpar food considering the prices. My pie (£13) was from a packet and drowned in gravy (not homemade), with what seemed like microwaved veg. My husband's lamb (£17) was alright, but again drowned in a sauce with a ton of dried herbs and no seasoning and the same veg floppy veg as mine (even though it was advertised differently). I would come for a drink, but would not eat here again!

Great proper pub. Tasty traditional pub food served very well and great selection of cider and beer. Friendly professional staff.

We had lunch today at the White Hart - just soup and sandwiches but it all tasted lovely. We were made to feel very welcome and the service was excellent. It’s a traditional village pub but very clean and up to date inside.. A totally positive experience- thank you!

A real treat so happy we found this great pub to meet & eat in. Staff were the best I have come across anywhere. Really made you feel welcome though we were complete strangers to them. Fabulous food, the batter on the fish was amazingly crispy as was all the other food we had. So nice we could take in the dog with us. Toilets were kept so lovely and clean. Just wish we lived nearer but as only an hrs drive will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much.

We visited here for my dad's birthday meal. We'd expected to be going elsewhere which ended up being closed and Mia couldn't have been more helpful when I called. Everyone was lovely and the food was really good. It is also a lovely, traditional pub that we will certainly revisit

We stopped here while walking the Thames Way with our dog. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We had a beef and a coronation chicken sandwich on granary bread. They were good value, presented well and the bread was particularly good. The dog much appreciated the biscuits and bowl of water he was given in the garden.

Highly recommend!! Came in today for Sunday lunch, but decided on something different from a roast. The food was beautiful that's all I can say. Lovely sized portions, so much that we had to take half home with us and great value for money. The staff were lovely and made every effort to make sure we were happy and had everything we wanted. We shall definitely be back again. Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

The short story: Worst burger in all my 50 years. That includes fast food chains, 'greasy Joe's' joints, 1980's ideas of burgers in rural Thailand, and those made at home by 12 year old boys; quite an achievement. It consisted of one bun expertly cut in half, one piece of chicken breast cooked... well, perhaps "made unraw" is a better phrase... without marinade, and three pieces of wilted leaf the size of my big toe. No butter, no sauce, no flavor. Without a doubt the most uninspired piece of food I've ever seen. But it was served on a fancy wooden serving board so... yeah.As I was desperately hungry I borrowed a mushroom and half a bun which had some sauce on it from my wife's mushroom burger (which was lovely, by the way) and managed to squeeze the dry - let's call it what it was - chicken and bun down my gullet. At the end of the meal the waitress asked whether "everything was alright with the food" before collecting the plates. I asked her to clarify whether the burger was supposed to have been served like that or was there some mistake. She said that's how it comes. She said she'd let the chef know my thoughts. The rest of the meal: chips were fine if also a bit dry. The coleslaw was the goopy kind, drowned in fatty mayonnaise. The tiny side salad was actually good with a balsamic drizzle. My wife's burger was lovely - look at the photo; juicy and tasty. That's why I was confused. Does the chef hate chicken or just people who eat chicken?Further confusion; the place seemed popular amongst locals. The meals in the pub just in the next town are really, really good so... I dunno. I'm confused.Other notables: staff and locals friendly, Guinness not that great, good music, waited a bit for the food but we were kind of warned about that by a semi-articulate young waiter. Understaffed, I'd say.So, I can't recommend the pub. Seems others would though. Just don't order the whatever it was and be prepared to wait.
