We had a meal here yesterday for a Saturday very quiet. We had warm bread to start, which was basically toast, and we were charged £5 each for the privilege. Mains, we're hearty but nothing special. Good selection of ale which was a bonus but for just shy of £50 it was rather disappointing.

Great little pub, good prices on the beer and a wide selection of meals to choose from. Glad to see there's still some actual old school pubs around.

A good what see is what you get salt of the earth pub, sadly ones like this are going out of fashion. Good beer and friendly folk

Lovely situated in Malmesbury. Clean, attractive. Husband assures me beer always perfect.Menu choice has reduced over the years. Where's the Nut Roast gone? I looked forward to that! However Food hot and tasty.Been retuning for 30 years. Says it all

Excellent "boozer"....Real Ales 😍 kept beautifully. Food good ,value for money & well cooked. No dogs no children ( in the bar) no music !! just good booze & conversation !!

Food and service were both excellent. The pan fried sea bass was the best I had tasted in a long time.

Having read some of the reviews I can only concur with regards the barman. He's quite a, um, asset, for sure. A very unpleasant character indeed. If you're going to send someone away for not wearing a mask (respiratory issue and no I don't need a certificate and no you do not have the right to ask about my medical history) well then, sir, you'd best make sure you're wearing one too, which you weren't.On a more pleasant note, I highly recommend the King's Arms down the road. Great food, an excellent view out back and I was served by a lovely waitress who was actually pleased to have a customer.

Ideal place in Malmesbury. At the top of a high street opposite a beautiful historical site. Staff non invasive to the point of being very quiet. Great gathering spot for locals and visitors. Outside benches encourage mixed conversations and a jovial atmosphere!! Great ciders.

Sunday lunch here is excellent. The 1st time I visited I felt they scrimped on the roast potatoes, so when I went back for my 2nd visit I asked if I could have extra roasters, even if I had to pay, the friendly waitress informed me there was a charge, and I had £2 added to my bill. As a chef myself, and eaten out several times for Sunday roast, the whole hog is not alone in serving a slightly smaller portion of roasters, most places are the same, what gets me is, potatoes are the cheapest ingredient on the plate.

Traditional, spit and sawdust type pub at the top of High Street. Great selection of reasonably priced local ales but the unwelcoming barman ensured we didn’t stay for more than one pint.
