Adore in Birmingham

Great experience if your a food lover, food was presented so lovely and the staff were amazing , onky down side to this is the extras you dint get told about that are added on to your bill at the end, service charge , and that little extra apple pie which you think is included in the 88.00 p person at 12 00....makes it an extremely expensive experience

We booked About Eight for my partner's birthday. Having eaten many many times at Sosban, a previous restaurant that Andy was executive chef at, we just had to travel up to Birmingham to support him once again. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel important, like VIP's. We were shown through to V8 lounge, where we could sit and enjoy a drink from the fabulous drinks menu. A large variety on the drinks menu...cocktails, wines, champagne, spirits and some beers & ciders. We went for 2 cocktails which were absolutely divine. Mat works so hard on the recipes and some of his cocktails take 2/3 days to make with various infusions etc. I've never tasted anything so good! The V8 lounge is absolutely beautiful, with low relaxed lighting, beautiful venetian plastered walls and great music. Once the other 7 guests had arrived and had their welcome drinks, we were then shown to Eight in our individual pairs. We were sat around the kitchen with individual spotlights for each setting, and high seats so we could get a clear view of the culinary excellence that was about to take place. We opted for the 11 course taster menu along with the premium drinks flight. The whole menu was absolutely mind blowing, with each dish carefully plated and served with such eloquence. Each dish was expertly explained as it was served, with various members of the brigade adding final touches or instructions of how to eat the dish. The flavours, textures and presentation of all dishes were insane! This is what you call fine dining. It was fantastic to watch the dishes being made and plated right in front of us. Andy and his brigade are incredibly talented. Mat, our sommelier was so hospitable. His knowledge of drinks is amazing. Each drink was perfectly paired with every dish, bringing more to the dish and amplifying flavours. He really knows what he is doing and we loved his choices with our food. Really cannot recommend Eight and the whole team here enough! Absolutely mind blowing experience and yet again Andy did not disappoint! Such a pleasure to support a team that are so passionate about food and ingredients. Thank you so much for a fantastic evening guys! You're all incredible and we cannot wait to visit again.

Had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Atmosphere was amazing very relax. I lived the decor I thought it was very well laid out and looked stunning. The staff were extremely friendly, answered any questions you had and had a good knowledge of the food. I don't drink alcohol, but there was a wide variety of alcoholic beverages to choose from and the soft drinks even though the selection was limited I enjoyed what I had. The food was potentially one of the best meals I've had in my life. The lamb course was my favourite of the six courses, but the two deserts came in a close joint second. Every course was sensational, but the lamb was the best I've ever eaten. All in all a great experience would highly recommend.

The food was amazing, really high class, fantastic ingredients, a bit fish heavy for my personal taste but still worth the money. Andrew Sheridan was a sweetheart, very engaging and friendly and so were the rest of the chefsThe whole experience was flawed though. Cocktails were awful. Rather then mixed fresh were brought in in there weird perfume bottles and just poured over ice.The waiting room was weird, dark and uncomfortable and they made us sit there for 30 min while all the diners arrived. But the strangest thing was the 2 minute video they played before we entered the dining room.A nature cooking montage with sounds of the moon landing piped over the top. Pretentious is not the half of it.This is at odds with the service and attitude of Andrew and the staff inside. Which again would get 10/10.All in all they would do best to hire a cocktail bartender and ditch the video and weird waiting room. Then this would be a truly exceptional experience. The food which is really why your here, is delicious and worth the money.

Had an excellent evening. The food was amazing the amount of thought and effort that goes into producing such a high level of dishes that leads you from one course to another is fantastic.The drink accompanying the meals are well thought out and explained excellently.The interaction with the team was both friendly and welcoming congratulations to the whole team definitely will be back.Thank you

Quite a novel experience and decor. Seats not easy to access for us oldies, but comfortable once in. Staff pleasant, attentive and informative. Food inventive and presented well and we were surprised at the quality of the local wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening

What? For real. Honestly. A great dining experience. The food is to live for. Andrew is a good chef who has a story to tell. Listen carefully. The cocktail guy is great at drinks pairing. Hopefully gets more than 1 star! Can't wait to revisit.

We visited About 8 this past weekend with my sister and her partner for the eight dish taster menu. WOW! What an atmosphere. Young chefs and the mixologist, Matt, made us feel welcome and chatted to us from start to finish. Andrew was excellent in his performance in explaining the reasoning behind the dishes. The food was delicious. The drinks were perfect(even the ones I did not like) and matched with the individual dishes. Highly recommend Matt’s pairing choices to go with your dishes.

Simply stunning food, excellent service. What more can you want.We had a "dining experience" as a present and what a treat it was. We had a six course taster and wow it was amazing.Please go along and enjoy, you wont be disappointed.

This place is amazing it’s nothing like iv seen before it’s different in a good way setting is unique …. Can’t fault anything.. staff are amazing friendly and easy to talk too. Food is like no other only problem is wish I had more.. we did a drinks pairing which is a must also.. Jake is passionate about what he does and it shows.. best drinks pairing iv ever had enjoyed everyone also had a cocktail before so tasty.. can’t wait to go back and experience it all over again with the other features of after 8..
