Banu in Birmingham

one of the best indian restaurant best food fantastic service it was my first visit very impressive highly recommended.

Restaurant had a bar add in where window but no drinks were allowed not a nice place service very poor

My advice DON'T GO says bar in a neon sign but only soft drinks available as no license, would not all to bring own drinks in, exterior looks run down and so does the interior, did not actually eat there or turn up for booking as we Wes made to feel uncomfortable by the staff due to us asking questions about the place, only given 1 star as lowest i can otherwise it would have been a minus 5 rating, most disappointing in this day and age

Bought a meal for 6 voucher as a Christmas present off Groupon. Upon booking I was told not to use Groupon to book again as they do the same deal cheaper in house.When booking I asked if we should bring our own alcohol to be told no, as there was a bar in the restaurant…. There was a bar, with no alcohol… only soft drinks are allowed.The restaurant was cold and only seemed to have small electric fan heaters and when ordering our food we were told it would be extra to add mushrooms.Despite the above, the staff were very polite and friendly and the food was nice.

Firstly Jan the front of house is a lovely lady who made me feel very welcome during my visit. Secondly the food was great, can't remember ever having a better naan! Would recommend if in the area.

A very disappointing experience. Chased the order once the website said it had been delivered. This was after an hour and 15mins of waiting, told it was stuck in traffic and it would be 20mins (suspiciously the exact amount of time it takes to get from the restaurant to our house...) When the takeaway arrived 25mins later, the delivery driver did not apologise for the delay but proceeded to complain about the delivery address, which is autofilled on every order, so this hasn't changed from our previous orders. Food was as good as usual, however we found a rubber band in one of the curries. Won't be ordering from here again.

Brilliant food enjoyed, to be honest we couldnt eat it all ,soon in doggy bag for supper ,really went out of there way ,

It was our first visit to Banu, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Everything was fresh, and the taste was authentic and sublime. A gem of a restaurant with lovely, friendly staff. The food excites the pallet ! We look forward to coming again. Thoroughly recommended.

I visited Banu's on the whim for the first time as I was passing by and very hungry.The place lacked atmosphere, was very dull with rude staff. I looked around and to see no customers other than an old man with his son. We got chatting and he mentioned that this is his go to place and in his own words "dark curry". I asked him what dark curry meant and he explained that it means its the best curry in town. He followed up with a statement claiming that its really good value for money and that he got his deal on Groupon; £13.99 for a 3 course meal for 2 people.This seemed too good to be true, and my gut instincts were right. If it's that cheap then it must be sub par quality. Anyways I proceeded to order; a la carte as I did t have a Groupon vouchet. For starters Chicken Shaslick and mains was Chicken Madras.30 minutes later the food arrived and to be honest, I wasn't impressed. It looked like a supermarket curry, lacking all the Asian herbs and spices. I could have made a better curry at home with basic ingredients. What made it worse is that there were flies around my table.Needles to say, I didn't finish all the food, paid and left the restaurant to find the nearest take away for better food.I really don't know how this man and his son can frequent this establishment. He probably doesn't know what a "dark curry" really is and has a stomach made of steel or on a tight budget.I wont be going there again.

As a first time I felt let down as the food wasn't to my liking. It's okay for those who like it mild or medium. It was too tomatery and for some reason it was very sweet. There did bring green chilies also redone my dish but not much of change. They medium is mild so if you want hot make sure it's hot.Other then that the staff was ok the service was ok. They sauces were all sweet even mint chutney.come on they should have yogurt mint chutney without the sugar. Restaurant was quite and I did enjoy that. Would recommend it just because I didn't have mine right that didn't others wont. Take much pictures.I love there naan. My starter was nice.
