A lovely old hotel, which used to be the Birmingham Eye Hospital. The welcome to the hotel was lovely and the staff on reception were very friendly. Our room on the first floor could be accessed via the grand stair case in the lobby or a (very) cosy lift.We were staying in one of the junior suites, which was impressive in it's size, but lacked a little bit of the style and decor that you'd expect from a suite. The bed was huge, but also very very comfy. The bathroom had a large walk in shower, plus a roll top bath. It felt luxurious, but unfortunately a little bit dated with some of the marks on the walls and cracked tiles. Just a little spruce up would do it the world of good. The location was good, just 5 minutes walk to the cathedral and then through to New Street. I would probably stay here again.

Jordan and his team made sure everything was perfect - the room was spotless and the service flawless. Incredible value for money as the rooms are beautifully decorated and the location is ideal for exploring the city. Thank you everyone for making our stay so memorable!

We stayed at the Hotel Du Vin in Birmingham on March 12th and had a fantastic stay. The building is a stunning Victorian ex-hospital, and in true Hotel du Vin tradition it is beautifully appointed with ornate balustrades and classical decoration. The subdued lighting gives a lovely atmosphere. Fleur was great and helped us to get the most of our stay. Check in and check out were easy and she gave us ideas for interesting visits. The room was spacious, the bathroom well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. We had lunch in the bar and there was a delicious selection of snacks and light meals. The breakfast menu was varied. After cereals or pastries, one of our party had a whole kipper and another had boiled egg and soldiers! All in all, a fabulous stay and I look forward to our next visit

This hotel looked far better than it looked outside. It's exceptional, not like your regular hotels. You want to stay longer. The decorations, superb. it's exactly as the pictures you see online

Lovely old hotel in an unbeatable location. Perfect for shopping, dining out and exploring the bars and pubs plus easy walk to the station. We had a couple of issues with our room that were dealt with well.

Fantastic rooms and amazing little cocktail bar but most impressive of all was the shower. Just like being jet washed. I've never been cleaner !!!

We ate in the bar. Harry was an absolute star and looked after us perfectly. Food was great. Nothing to dislike!!

It's a nice hotel and the bistro food was lovely, had a dodgy situation when paying though with staff having given themselves a tip and donating on our behalf too, the reception cleared this up pretty quickly though so no harm done.

Gifted a 1 night stay with dinner and Breakfast, this was the first time we have visited this hotel. Very traditional decor and a good sized room with everything you would need. Would liked to have seen a little more history on the building in the form of pictures but it is a really nice place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Birmingham's nightlife.Drinks in the bar are a little on the expensive side so after paying £28+ a service charge for 2 double gins, we decided that we would continue our evening in the local bars where we paid less than £15 for the same. The meal was very good though and breakfast was adequate.

Hotel - located on in great location walking distance from most areas of the city.Beautiful old building with a sense of grandeur. The spa and pub was closed during our visit. Unfortunately, this wasn't noted on our booking.Check in - fairly straight forward but I did it before we got to the hotel and then had to do it again on arrival. We were offered an upgrade (subject to availability for a reduced price) we accepted but then felt let down on the day when none were available.I asked for chocolates on the pillow as a small birthday present for my girlfriend. The note said this was from the hotel.Room - the room was huge with nothing in it and dated. Some may have called this character once but it is just tired now. Toilets that don't flush properly, stains, nowhere to unpack, mirrors at odd heights. Just lots of little things that added up to not make it special. Not worth the money.Staff - the staff were excellent at reception, restaurant and in the bar. All were extremely friendly and helpful. We did complain about the points noted above and was offered a discount.I wouldn't stay there again though, not unless they upped their standards.
