The smoke extractor from the kitchen didn’t work so most of the customers were coughing while choking on spicy food. If you have Asthma pls don’t visit this place. The waitress(the only lady working that night ) has so much attitude that every time we asked for something she walked away without listening and come back with wrong items. The other waiters were nice! Hence why am giving 2 stars.Foods were overly layered with sour sauce. The Crispy duck was fried with old bad oil as we could smell it on the food. I couldn’t eat it.Food quality was ok and well portioned.

There was a time when I would have said Birmingham was Nirvana for Chinese restaurants. For some time now, I have been having to revise this assessment. Old favourites have either closed or lurched downwards in quality. So a recent trip to Brum was a bit of a challenge. Armed only with reviews, I took a stab at Pepper Chef. Seeing at once I was one of only a few Europeans amongst the predominantly Chinese clientele, I immediately started to relax. This is always a good clue to the quality of the upcoming food, and here it proved accurate.Kung Po prawns and peanuts had a wonderfully chargrilled flavour and meaty spare ribs were tastily coated, but not drowned in a sharp barbecue sauce. The room itself is somewhat stark and buffet-like in appearance with harsh, harsh lighting, but the food more than makes up for it. Service was impeccably polite and prompt. A find!

Really enjoyed this place. Packed full (always a good sign), but fast and friendly service. Had to go for something I wouldn't normally eat, so chose the fried pigs intestine - came to the table sizzling, and was quite delicious. Would definitely go again, should I find myself in Birmingham.

Who likes hot and sour noodle soup?🙋‍♀️I always love eating hot stuff especially noodle soup during winter time. After a visiting my customer in Birmingham China town, I had a veggie lunch in Pepper Chef.Pepper Chef📍 1B, Hurst St, Birmingham B5 4TDWHAT I HAD🍜Pickled Vegetable Rice Noodle Soup🥟Pan Fried Beancurd & Chinese Mushroom DumplingThe Pickled Vegetable Rice Noodle Soup was quite big in portion. It consisted of pickled vegetable, pak choi, coriander, beans, seasoned egg and Sichuan chilli. The noodles were slippery and soft. The soup base was hot and sour. I kept sweating during eating the noodles but I did love this feeling 🔥♥️🔥♥️How’s the dumplings? See my next post on Instagram @ccgyozalover for details 🤗These lovely & yummy vegetable dishes warmed me up during this winter time. What’s your favourite dish during winter?

Is so salty. How busy is your restaurant, the owners/manager need to watch their chief to cook properly.Beside us, the British family watching us eating. Is disgrace to Asian that this restaurant unable to give a decent asian food.

I could not fault the service of the food here. Dined two nights in succession. Both times serive was super. Sring rolls and beef black bean first night and seafood noodles with prawn toast second night. Great value all round and many Chinese people dining there too which is always a good sign

Authentic, vast variety of choices, things you can't find antebellum else, some of my favourite dishes here.

Ordered salt and pepper fried fish for takeaway. They put the freshly fried dish straight into polystyrene foam containers only to have the containers melt and contaminate the food. This place should be shut down by hygiene authorities. Absolutely disgraceful. No consideration on the health of customers.

I ordered BBQ skewers, they are really delicious and quite cheap too. 2 pound each. Chinese pancake is so so. Quite a big place, service is good, I would recommend 👍🏻
