Sunday evening in there was awful. It was like a Youth Club and all the Bar Staff were interested in was talking to their mates at the end of the bar when there were customers waiting to be served, I was then greeted with "What Do You Want"? Thankfully for the young man it was my birthday and I was in celebratory mood or else I don't think his evening shift would have ended very well for him. Very disappointed having had great experiences in the past there and even staying in the Hotel twice previously. Will consider carefully whether to go there again after Sunday.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Connor behind the bar was great, and made me feel right at home, despite me looking out of place, in a tracksuit, with a laptop and making business calls. It's refreshing to see someone so passionate about what they do!Manager, if your reading this, fast track this man to promotion!

Went for breakfast before gold cup day. Can't believe how busy this place was at 9.30. Had two full English and two pints for £15, served within ten minutes and food was great. Loads of staff and well run. Great pub

Lovely room - big & spacious with a very comfy bed. Good sized bathroom, a little dated in places, but overall fine. No water provided in the room as apparently they had run out.

Overnight stay here in the hotel, and pub. Excellent stay for the money, room was spacious, with a quality feel. Only let down by poor maintenance, main light in bathroom didn't work, and the sink was so visably damaged, it should have been replaced. The welcome tray was half empty on arrival. The hotel staff pleasant enough. Food in pub was good. Can't fault on price.

As with most JDWS pubs, busy because it is great value, but full of people that want to get hammered.I was there with just my wife on valentines night. It lacked atmosphere but was warm. Staff level seemed minimal; I guess as it was mid week.

Let me start with the positive. Nice lady at the reception, helpful chambermaids, cosy and clean room. But I didn’t feel safe as a woman alone with the massive pub next door. Drunken men blocking the hotel entrance from 4 pm until late. Even though you need your hotel key to buzz yourself in. It was very intimidating. I would not recommend ladies all by themselves or even in a group to spend the night here.

Good breakfast had the 2 poached eggs muffin and Hollandaise sauce which was good, tasty well cooked eggs. As many cups of coffee as I wanted. Good price. The rest of the group enjoyed theirs too

Only went for breakfast, when the breakfast offered in another budget hotel group was expensive and not worth the money or effort in getting to the dinning room. As always the large breakfast was tasty and hot with as much coffee as you can drink and we'll worth the money. From what I saw of the hotel I will book a room here than in the hotel I had that weekend.

Mouse ran around the wall skirtings as we ate. Staff just carried on and fellow customers found it entertaining (as did we) any other restaurant people would be up in arms😂😂 hilarious that it’s completely acceptable in a spoons. Probably not great hygiene wise mind
