The Funky Bear in Birmingham

First time eating at the Funky Bear for Sunday lunch and first impressions were not good as it looked in need of renovations (especially the gents toilet). We ordered 2 x beef, 1 x chicken dinners and 1 cheesy burger and the food was average - good, but the service was slow. Staff were friendly and pleasant but looked bored. We were overcharged for 2 extra drinks (apparently a computer error) which was partially corrected. We ordered 2 drinks (1 cider & 1 coffee) after the meal but the coffee never arrived and also had to be removed from the bill. Menu prices online need updating as we were charged more on the day. Glad we used a Groupon voucher but won’t be returning anytime soon.

Nice place to go for dinner with your family or as a couple.nice and spacious in there. Food was very tasty and nice big portions. The children's menu was good and also good sized meals! Would visit again...only thing that I would probably pick at that I don't like,was the price of the drinks.way to expensive! Other than that,was a nice experience

Went for lunch today and absolutely loved it. The decor is wonderful. Bears are my favourite animal, so to see all the bear decor was fabulous. Very clean and tidy. The guy who greeted us was lovely, very friendly and welcoming, made me feel instantly at ease, and checked on us regularly. Food was really nice with a good choice on the menu and was served quite quickly.We will definitely be back.

Good over all experience, I personally Didn't love my meal, I ordered the chicken kabobs, they were pretty bland and boring, However my meal was half price as they had a promotion on so it was well worth the money as the quality and portion size was good.The staff were exceptional and the other meals on the table looked amazing! Some of my friends had the lamb and they loved it! They gave my friend who had the birthday a free cocktail and bent over backwards to make it a great meal out. I would definitely go back again.

Saturday night at the funky bear Mere Green was a pleasant surprise for we two pensioners. Archie our waiter looked after us very well and attended our every need. The menu is limited which is not a bad thing. Started with buffalo wings and mushrooms on toast then sirloin and fillet steaks. All cooked as we required but portions are quite small.Modern dance music made it feel clubby and cool.There are a lot of young servers who seemed to be in training.A bit expensive in my view.

Great that there was offer of half price main course on the day of our visit but we had to wait a long time for our meals to arrive after ordering. I was very hungry!! The food was good however I would have preferred unminted peas with my fish and chips, no mention on the menu and who serves minted mushy peas? The vegan fish and chips was excellent. Front of house staff were very friendly and the pub was very clean.

Food was delicious, missing a star just because the cocktail we had was not great!

Staff were welcoming. Very busy Friday night. I think if the bookings were staggered a little better it would help the staff out as they were rushing round and it seemed like people had been waiting a while. I would go again. Scotch egg was fab but probably wouldn't have the steak burger again. I did ask for raw but the it was a little chewy in the centre. Had a good night.

I can't find any fault in this place! The food is amazing, staff are really friendly and efficient they cant do enough for you. the place is lovely. Fab start to finish. Would really recommend!

The staff are really lovely and friendly. First time visiting, had a new menu. Totally recommend the Mediterranean chicken kebab. Its to die for. Couldn't fault the service. Will definitely be returning for more delicious food and great customer service. Cheers
