The Mare Pool in Birmingham

Unfortunately bar staff not checking who's next which yet again causes problems. Female just kept serving young men. Food did look wonderful and noticed plates always empty which is a good sign.

Ordered a coffee. The machine was broke. And then was told to go to the bar for a refund. So ordered other drinks. 2 of which had bits in! Won't go there again

We ordered food and drinks. The meals arrived quite quickly and were well cooked and lovely. The service from all staff was excellent.We have eaten here before and will definitely not hesitate to come back.Well done to the manager for making it a great place to come to.

My wife and I visited the Mare Pool for lunch after a trip in the City.As usual, the atmosphere was pleasant and we sat at a nice clean window table where we ordered two Panini sandwiches and two soups.We chose to have bottomless coffees for our drinks, but sadly the coffee machine decided to only half fill our cups with lukewarm coffee, but a second attempt produced a slightly warmer full portion drink.The food arrived in good time, and the Panini's appeared well cooked, although quite lacking in taste.Our soups however were tepid, and actually quite cold toward the bottom of the bowl, leading us to suspect that a quick blast in a microwave had been insufficient in reheating this offering.No one came to check if we were happy with our meal, and rather than complain, we decided to leave shortly after, as it was hardly worth the fuss.Overall, our experience was disappointing. We have regularly frequented the Mare Pool since it first opened, and from experience we know that the food and hot drinks can both be a little bit and miss in both quality and temperature.Our latest visit was definitely a miss but for the price, we're prepared to take that risk, unless it becomes the norm, rather than the exception.Overall, underwhelming and undercooked.

excellent location, excellent visitors, good food, excellent atmosphere, very reasonable prices really enjoyed our visit. A wonderful place for young and old alike. Welldone

Another good Wetherspoons. Good food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Interesting interior decor, a circular fire pit and a sculpture of a diver.

The staff weren't the best. There was one guy who was asking to take plates away whilst others were still eating, which is rude. The barmaid also gave me my drinks whilst holding the rim of the glass and I was always taught to hold a glass towards the bottom. You done't put your fingers near where someone drinks from. There was also an awful smell circulating which seemed like it was coming from the toilets but it may have been the air con. This place was less busy than usual, for a Friday, and it may be because it has gone downhill.

Great service, lovely place to eat, great food and friendly staff. The only down side of the pub is the prices are different on the app to the disposable menu 😒.Other than that great family pub, great place to eat and the outdoor area is nice and clean.

Free easy parking outside, clean venue and friendly staff. Ordered large breakfast with free re-fill coffee. Food was ok and coffee tasted decent. I would visit The Mare Pool again 👍🏻
