The Oak in Birmingham

I had the mixed grill with the expectation that the meat is usually overcooked when I order this anywhere I go. However I couldn't fault this meal in any way. The steak was exactly as I ordered, the chicken wasn't dry and the gammon and pork were lovely. The chips tasted delicious too and I don't often say that. Extremely pleased with the meal and dessert indeed.

I love this place. Today I went for a birthday treat with my granddaughter and her partner.A nice warm welcome as always.Lovely staff and wonderful food.You couldn't ask for anything better.Looking forward to my next visit soon.

We went to the oak tree last night, and can we just say he impressed we were.From the moment we walked in the staff were warm welcoming and friendly. The food and the service were absolutely fantastic, and value for money you can't fault it

Nice looking pub, barmaid was really pleasant and friendly, beer was nice. Ordered the Hunters Chicken which was an absolute car crash! I could have made better at home. Not sure I’d eat here again if the food is so poor, no presentation, tasted very plain. Shame.

Positive points: booking for a group of 10 on table requested was organised.Staff were super friendly and helpful.Food arrived promptlyPrices reasonableWe thought the food was good quality and tasty.Negative points:The pub kept filling up with acrid smoke that made the eyes sting and made our clothing smell. We were told that the ventilation fans in the kitchens weren't working so all the cooking fumes were filling the guest area. Staff opened doors but this didn't help much. It was annoying and uncomfortable and eventually contributed to us deciding to leave when we did. We were told that the fans couldn't be repaired until at least Monday. We questioned whether the kitchen should have been used therefore, as this was unhealthy and unpleasant for staff and guests. I am surprised it was considered safe and legal to use the kitchen cooking equipment without appropriate ventilation.

Fantastic service. My nan had died that morning and my grandad went in for a few drinks and I met him there. The staff were amazing and looked after him until I got there. Can't thank them enough. As this is local he feels connected to this place and he will always drink in here. Thank you all ♥️

There were 16 of us. Everyone was friendly and the food was served promptly. We’re a large family and often go for meals and sometimes there’s issues with meals not coming out together or unfriendly staff. We didn’t have these issues and would definitely come again

Overall great restaurant! Food was great I ordered the southern fried chicken burger and I was extremely happy with it. The waiter (sam) was very helpful and polite I felt very welcomed by him and the bar staff. Definitely a place I will go back to.

Staff were extremely helpful and professional. The service provided was perfect and the food that followed was equally as good. Even though we arrived to late for good they still catered for us, keeping the kitchen open for us. I would highly recommend.

Outstanding experience every visit. On this occasion we visited on 14/02/22 and was greeted in a great and friendly manner, instructed of the menus and specials etc as well as available seating.We ordered some starters (3 for £12 on starters was a fantastic offer!). We then ordered mains - I had the pizza and my partner had the mega chilli cheese burger, we both ordered sides of the special mozzarella dough balls and a side of inferno sauce for dipping. The pizza was delicious and the perfect thickness - soft but still with a slight crisp! My partners burger was insane - stacked up high, definitely worth every penny. The mozarella dough balls were my absolute favourite - they were on the specials menu and tasted fresh and homemade. We were absolutely stuffed after all the food so we did take some of the dough balls home which made for a lovely treat the next afternoon!The service was incredible and couldn't fault it. There was a young lad working on the bar (I think his first shift) and he was fantastic. Really polite and friendly! Will be returning again 😊
