We experienced a very average pub that was almost empty and we understood why as well having only spent a short time there. Just had a drink and ate elsewhere. It was very unfriendly and unwelcoming and instead we chose to eat at the Amritsari Tarka opposite which was superb.Shame as we met some really nice people today around Sandwell.Definitely a place to avoid.

We arrived to a cold reception as the man tending to the bar was dismissive. He even pointed to the kitchen door to order our food. No words of explanation, like we were idiots. The drinks were expensive and the food was average at best, and the young boy in the kitchen was on his own for a period of time. He tried his best and was the only polite staff member. The sad truth is that the recommendations of this pub were very good, and I go to Desi Sweets often so we thought we would try it. However, I would not recommend this venue as a good place to eat, and the way the person at the bar was dismissive and rude put both of us off completely. The reality is because it was a poor welcome it highlighted the dated decor, the fact the pub was freezing cold, the expensive drinks and the poor portions with paper towel napkins. A great welcome, warm place to sit goes a long way i think. A real shame

3 stars because: The Tandoori Grill food is out of this world - good as it gets. The pub itself is a bit on the ropey side though, unfortunately. Very highly recommend the food.

My first time at this place. It is a traditional style pub with pool tables and a dart board. They even serve a pint of mild. The staff are friendly. Get a pint, sit down, look at the menu and order your food. There is a very good selection on the Menu. The Mixed Grill came in 5 sizes. We had a Red Cow mixed grill, Chicken Balti, Lamb Kadai, Lamb Keema with Aloo. Sides were Pilau Rice, Naan, Roti and Chips. The mixed grill is one of the best I've tasted in a long time. Nothing on the platter was charred black like you would find in some desi pubs. The the meat was tender and flavourful. The curries were on par with most places except for the Lamb Keema with Aloo where it was very salty. We brought this to their attention and was quickly resolved. The prices were reasonable. Good value for money. I also ordered 2 Butter Chickens and 2 Naans to take home for the kids. Normally most places serve the Butter Chicken as mild, but this one had a bit of a kick to it. It was still very tasty, but unfortunately one of the kids couldn't handle the heat. This is a mental note for me in the future. The question is...Would we return? Yes... Especially for the mixed grill.

Visited Saturday evening for the first time and really ourselves. We travelled from Coventry after checking reviews and were not disappointed. We had veg & fish pakora starters which were crispy and tasted delicious. Then ordered lamb and bombay potato curry, mini sizzler, kulcha naan, masala chips with side salad.Food was very good quality and well priced costing £22 for the above.Good table service and beer plus plenty of TV screens to watch footy so will definitely visit again.

Went to the shireland last week which was a positive experience met my uncle there who said the red cow is a must, so on his recommendations here i am..... drinks are reasonably priced as is the food. We only ordered a mixed grill the £15 one, keema naan, few rotis and keema peas. Food was of a high standard cant complain. It is at the top with a few of the other local ones, they have the concept right and the service is okay. The bad bits.... salad was way stingy, and the lack of chutney/sauces we had to ask for extras. All in all pretty good.
