The Selly Park Tavern in Birmingham

Absolutely love this place!! Just came back from having a beautiful meal here. I had the steak and guinness pie with a side order of cauliflower cheese and my hubby had the beef chilli and rice.Fabulous!! I really mean that. We've been only a few times this year and honestly everytime it's been top jolly food. The prices are fantastic, I don't know how they do it! Gorgeous food for really reasonable prices!The team are just lovely, always accommodating, nothing is any trouble just salt of the earth wonderful people. The beer is lovely .Thank you for a lovely time, just what we needed after a hard day at work!Camilla and Colin Pearce xx

Always great to go for a decent drink. the new menus & offers make it quite noisy/busy at times so be ready to a) book in advance b) wait for your meal. But always great value

Nice pub good food friendly staff. Lately there has been a lot of unavailable menu items hopefully this is a temporary problem. Unfortunately I have trouble with the Ember Inns App every time I visit don't know why but is only here it works fine elsewhere

DO NOT BOTHER GOING! Unless you enjoy complaining about assumptions of what YOU would like to drink even after you have you asked for a specific drink and it won’t be in the light of helping you but rather their TILL! Trust me that’s NOTHING! Even when the chequered shirted glorified bar boy delivers your Guinness to the table to try and redeem his poor approach and Copt out presumptuous failed sales pitch! (Floored) couldn’t even get that right slamming down on our table the precious Irish gift (Guinness) in a spilled mess all around the glass and around the table top where it landed ( as us Guinness drinkers know)“and ALL NOVICE bar tenders know” that you never spill Guinness Simple! Shocked as I was and speechless (good job for him) and nearly an hour wait for a quiet Monday evening for food, we wanted a good fillet steak as my wife and I was recommended to come here as the food was gorgeous??!?! “ only to be told nothing on the grilled menu is available except rump steak, failing to tell us that no peppercorn sauce was available until all 3 course menu orders has been completed? If I knew no sauce was available I would consider going somewhere else yet decided to order béarnaise sauce (lumpy curdled and powdery) sickly! however I can appreciate other peoples opinion so please feel free to visit this pub but you WILL be disappointed especially if like me cook at home and sometimes would just like a break from washing up! Trust me DONT go to Shelly park tavern!! stay at home or go else where, ok after spitting the food out undeterred by the initial welcome being very patient and forgiving by myself and my wife, an older male waiter was super understanding refunded this slit open x4 steaks when arrived at the table where the amateur so called Chef has sliced the steak open to check if it was cooked to our liking (it still wasn’t) menu states TENDER 8oz rump steak NA! Not a chance we couldn’t even cut it with steak knives! The waiter apologised gave us a drink and refunded this mess! The bar tender in his red chequered shirt messy hair and no idea attitude however Surprises me how he ever got this job, only desperation from management can be brought to mind! Different coloured peas? Obviously a mix of variety (usually cheap frozen farm food rejects) greasy tasteless mushroom and onion RINGS !! Wow how many do you get I hear you ask???!! Wait for it!?! You get TWO!! Well it’s more than onion ring! A Joke man run for your lives!!!!!!!!!!! Will not be returning or recommending trust us!!

Great service, proper hospitality from Frank, who understands how to treat customers. Food wonderful, really enjoyed it and would recommend 😊

Nice food good service,was a little cold in there but still enjoyed are meal

Had a lovely family meal here 11th December. The ribs were particularly a favourite with us but everyone enjoyed what the had. Service was a little slow but it is leading up to Christmas. We were really cosy by the flame effect fire and would go here again

18 of us came for my partners birthday meal with his family. Everyone of us enjoyed our meals, the chefs and bar staff were brilliant with us and very patient considering it was quite busy, plus another huge table they had to sort out. Thanks guys for all your help, even with the little ones on our table (all 10 of them). We had a really lovely afternoon :)

Great drinks selection and good food menu.We went for an Ubu & Coors while browsing the menu, in a nice quiet corner of the pub. Lovely decor and a nice fire to keep warm. We decided on the seabass each, with lemon butter and a side of cauliflower cheese and steamed greens. Very tasty and great value for money! Food arrived within 15 minutes and was delicious. We did have to ask for cutlery at the bar after our food arrived, but not a big deal at all. Will love to visit again when in the area.
