The Four Stones in Bromsgrove

We have eaten here a couple of times - this evening being the latest - and have always been incredibly impressed with the service and food. We tend to eat earlier as we have a baby (don’t want to ruin others’ evening if she gets upset!) and we’ve always been made to feel very welcome. The staff always try to go above and beyond to meet your needs and no request seems too much problem. We often forget how local it is to us as it’s tucked out the way but definitely will be returning more frequently.

Great service, neither rushed nor slow, coupled with excellent food in a quiet yet warm room. Quiet enough for conversation to be easy warm enough on a cold wet winter day. The food was cooked wonderfully, with generous portions and just the right amount of vegetables. Priced at mid-price per person, this felt like a great choice for either a family meal or a group of adults.

Visited many times but this will be our last. Booked a table for 7pm on a Friday night and when we arrived the place was empty. Wondered why but soon figured out why! The quality has seriously plummeted. I had the 10oz steak for £23. The steak was just ok. Not terrible but not great. Should be great for £23. It was served with 9 chips and 47 peas! And nothing else. That’s right. 9 chips!!! I mentioned this to the staff who were very young and were clearly operating on a script and had no permission to act upon customer feedback. The girl who I mentioned the 9 chips to just giggled. Would it have taken much effort for her to have given the chef feedback on what I had said and arrive minutes later with a small bowl of chips? Additionally, My starter consisted of 10 mussels about 12mm long for £8.Our drinks order was a gin and tonic, a pint of lager and a red wine. This cost £26.My partner had the fish and vegetables. Our bill was £87 and we had a very disappointing evening. I had to have a couple of crackers and cheese when I got home as I didn’t feel like I had eaten anything at all!

Had a meal for joint family birthday end of November 2021. Food all fine no problem but the restaurant was freezing, the radiator where we we’re sitting didn’t work so most of my party had coats on!Also no one else in there - completely flat atmosphere and got the feeling once we had finished meal they were waiting for us to go.Shame

Very enjoyable evening, a great range of dishes to suit all tastes- the monthly changing set menus and market menus make it a really special enjoyable experience. The staff are really friendly and we look forward to returning again!

This is the 2nd time I have visited the four stones, the first time we had the room upstairs for my sons 21st birthday which was perfect. We were made to few like VIPs and the food was amazing and room was lovely you could easily hold a small wedding reception their or a christening.The 2nd time was tonight me and my husband had the set menu our food was of a high standard and the set menu was so reasonably priced. This restaurant is not a pub it’s so lovely to go somewhere and have a classy upmarket meal.Lovely as always will always return.Staff always make you feel welcome and give you the personal touch.

Good quality ingredients, well presented. The cappuccino was very weak though. Warm welcome, lovely ambience, would return for dinner some time..

Dined at the tour stones in the past and have always loved their food and atmosphere but sadly I won’t be returning following last nights visit. The atmosphere was non existent, I think only three other tables were occupied. The restaurant was cold. Storage heaters were plugged in but sadly weren’t big enough to give off the amount of heat needed for the size of the space. The waitresses we are quite incompetent not knowing the menu. Also one kept looking over at our table making my friend feel quite uncomfortable at times with the look she was giving. The girl making the drinks behind the bar had a real attitude. I think she must think there is a screen between the bar and the public and we couldn’t hear her comments or see her. There was only one person who seemed to know what they were doing and that was the waiter who was running the whole thing. He was lovely, very attentive and polite. I honestly don’t know how he can work with the other staff there the way they were. For that I have given him a star making my review two stars and not one. Food wise I have always loved it here as have my other six friends who also dined last night. But the food last night was just not up to the standard it has been previously. The chicken tarrine was bland and freezing cold like it had just been defrosted. Two of us had this and said how disappointing it was. The cod with crayfish sauce I can honestly say was probably the worst meal I’ve ever had out. Two of the smallest pieces of sliced potato quite heavily burnt on the corners, some green beans and a piece of cod which was not seasoned with a sauce which was completely see-through to the bottom of my dish which resembled water with no taste. Basically my meal was swimming in a bowl of boiled water- quite disgusting! I was not the only one to have this at the table and my friend was also very disappointed and said it was ‘tasteless’. When it came to the puddings the waitress didn’t know what was in what, no knowledge at all of the puddings and what she did come back and tell us was wrong after we’d ordered. My friend had the Christmas pudding and her words were ‘it is lukewarm at best’. All in all a very very disappointing trip to the Four Stones on many levels. I can completely see why this venue was so empty as I’m sure not many people would return again if they have experienced what we did last night. Again, thank you to the waiter. He made our night bearable with this smile at all times, politeness and good manners. Four Stones, please up your game and get this lovely, local restaurant back up the scratch.

Amazing venue, we had a baby shower here on halloween in the large room upstairs, food was lovely and staff were great. Will definitely use this again, brilliant and fully recommend.

We hired the Four Stones for a private event and every step of the way they were incredible. Katie and her team helped us set out our menu and plans and left us with an amazing night to remember. Would highly recommend to anyone, the combination of amazing food, attention to detail and beautiful venue left us thoroughly satisfied with our choice.
