Absolutely bang on....!Beer.. Bang on!Food.. Bang on!Service..Bang on!We used to often go to this pub for a beer as this pub as it is one of our locals. since covid we have obviously not been as often. But since pubs have reopened this place has gone from strength to strength. The beer is always outstanding 👌 never had a bad pint. The choice of ales larger and cider means that no-one is left wanting.. Today we visited for Sunday lunch just on the off chance and having not booked. They could not do enough to accommodate us. The food was absolutely beautiful with a real homemade taste and feel to it. We will definitely be returning many more Sundays.

The proprietor Steve and the staff are always welcoming which reflects on the pub itself providing a warm and enjoyable experience. One in which yiu want to keep going back for more. The home cooked food is excellent and extremely tasty and you never have to wait too long for your meal arrive. We are now regular customers. 😀

Lovely homely place. Landlord was very friendly . Food was exceptional and looking forward to going back to try more.

Havnt used the shovel for ages. Swung by last week for a few pints with the wife. Completely forgot how good of a pub it is (with great food also). Highly recommended for the best pint of ale in the area

Always excellent food and very well chosen and kept ales. Great new refurbished garden area with enclosed heated area for the winter.

Friendly pub with good choice of ales and other beverages, Good food and excellent service with a smile. Enjoyed their German festival beginning of December which I'd recommend. Happy to recommend and return.

Had a great meal this evening with friends. Nothing is too much trouble. Looking forward to the German Market there in a few days. Great place, highly recommend.

Good friendly local pub serving a wide selection of excellent real ales in addition to cider & lager. There is an outside courtyard with tables & seating if preferred to drinking inside. As well as the ale, food is served most nights, which is good and also good value. Well worth a visit to eat or drink or both.

Still the same fantastic quality of beer served here by pleasant, friendly staff. Extremely covid efficient if that's of concern to you and a really pleasant beer garden where you can actually kid yourself that you've escaped the insanity and are enjoying some Mediterranean / Greek hospitality. Well done Steve and team. Will be returning this Friday to sample the wonderful looking food.

Lovely, proper local cal pub. The new, renovated beer garden is lovely. Colourful, light and airy while also having plenty of cover in case of rain. Lots of TV screens, perfect for watching sports. Always a large, great selection of good quality ales and lagers available as well as pub standard lagers. The pub is operating very safely during Covid times.Can't wait to sample the food sometime!
