I had heard about this family run restaurant. It is spacious. It was not busy on a Sunday evening but we could see plenty of take away orders flowing out.Service was friendly but there is some room for improvement. Starters were a big serving and tempuras needed a bit of seasoning. Main courses were also of decent size. Flavours were subtle but wholesome. Food was tasty. It is not expensive but not cheap either.

Firstly we have been regular patrons of Favourite Thai since it opened. Under the previous owner who retired a couple of years ago it was truly excellent in all respects and I considered it my favourite restaurant in the UK. We have celebrated numerous birthdays, Valentines and anniversaries there. When the owner retired a manager was appointed and initially it was much the same. Don’t know who owns or runs it now but having not visited for some months last nights experience was truly shocking.First the famous Favourite Thai sharing starter. Gone was the fabulous Thai crab cake and carrot salad to be replaced with a range of fried items all in the same shade of beige and including that most traditional Thai item - a battered onion ring. There were also two small spare ribs in hoisin sauce so not exactly Thai.Next our favourite: sea bass with mango, chillies and Thai basil. Normally this is sea bass in a light tempura butter with a salad of sour mango, cherry tomatoes and onions, chillies, coriander and basil with a lime based dressing which cuts the batter. This was two pieces of cod which appeared and tasted like they had come from the local chippy with mango on top but no tomatoes, virtually no onion, no discernible chilli or basil and two coriander leaves. The taste was overwhelmingly of cooking oil and the mouth feel was vile. The fish would have been ok with a side order of chips and mushy peas but was about as Thai- m tasting as my husband’s socks. The Pad mee noodles are normally full of spring onions and bean sprouts and dressed with fried chopped garlic. There was no garlic and virtually no vegetables. Just a dollop of very greasy noodles that -what I ate - sat on my stomach like lead. The real shocker though was the service. We were offered one drink at the beginning and nothing else throughout the meal. Service used to be superb with complimentary water and prawn crackers on every table. After finishing as best we could the disappointing mains we sat back and waited for the dessert menu. Puds here used to be lovely and frankly I needed something to take away the taste of cooking oil. The lady who seemed to be in charge came over took the plates and said - with no word of apology - “do you want anything else because I need this table?”Our answer was “no. We will have the bill please”. This was £60. For the first time in my life I didn’t leave a tip but I will leave you one: avoid, avoid, avoid.

Delicious food and friendly service. The duck spring rolls were excellent. The jungle curry was top notch and very spicy. The pla manow was fresh and tasty.

A little disappointed as I ordered online and was given a window of time to pick up my food, but when I turned up a couple of minutes early I found the food was left out on top of a counter and was barely warm. However, 3 stars as once the food was heated at home it was really rather good; not the best Thai but not bad.

The food is amazing. So tasty, flavoursome, great portions. the only let down is the delivery time. I will give the benefit of the doubt and order again.

Outstandingly delicious! A must have if you are anywhere in the area of Burton upon Trent. A true jewel. The warm and wonderful people match the charming embiance. I started with the Prawns Tempura followed by the Ped Dhu-Chi with Egg fried rice and prawn crackers - best ever! The currey in the Ped Dhu-Chi was out of this world. I'm definitely going back tomorrow .

We’ve been ordering from here few times now since 2 years ago but tonight was just very disappointing. We ordered in just eat at 7pm but food arrived after over 2 and half hours. They also gave me a wrong order, I ordered sticky rice but instead they gave me a steamed jasmine or coconut rice. We rang few times and they always tell us it’s on its way. Very disappointing, might not order again. 👎🏻

What a great place for lunch! We had 2 appetizers and the wonton soup- really good portions and it tasted fabulous! I’ve had wonton soup all over North America and this place is in my top 10 best over all! I will be coming back for sure!
