My mother, grandma and I went to the swan inn for Mother’s Day. Myself and my mum are vegan and ordered vegan soup for starter. The vegan soup was served with non-vegan butter. This alone could be forgiven as I understand such a small thing can be overlooked, although it’s still a breach for allergens. The main, however, which was a vegan cottage pie, was served on the same plate as non-vegan cauliflower cheese, mashed potato and Yorkshire pudding which contained milk. This is horrendous. It meant I didn’t know which items on my plate I could eat despite ordering the vegan option. If an option says that it is vegan, then only vegan items should be on the plate. Many people choose vegan as they are allergic to items such as milk. If chefs don’t understand allergens then they should not be in the kitchen. Aside from the vegan issue, the soup was luke warm and so was the cottage pie. We were also squished onto a table for 2 and given an extra chair despite the fact we booked in advance. It also took an hour for the soup to arrive. A terrible experience from start to finish. If you have any allergies then don’t go here because unfortunately they are incapable of putting the correct items on the plate.

Visited the Swan for a works Christmas meal. Food was incredible, the portions were outstanding. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend visiting this pub if your in or around the area. They also have their own butchers on site so all food is completely home made grub.

Raw fish for lunch, nearly jumped off the plate! I know it’s meant to be fresh but this takes the biscuit. We didn’t ask for sushi

Popped in for an impromptu lunch, we didn't book a table but luckily they had a cancellation so were able to sit us. I'd advise pre-booking. I had an amazing Sunday lunch while my partner had a pie which she really enjoyed. The food was great, home made and plentiful. I would definitely come again

We visited this place alot before lockdown and the pies were outstanding. We visited for the first time tonight since then and things have gone downhill. We waited 15 minutes for drinks and had to remind the bar staff we had ordered even though the restaurant was empty. There was only 1 waitress on who was under lots of pressure when the restaurant started to fill up. The kids meal was appauling there were 3 little tiny chicken nuggets and about 2 chips and the rest were burnt bits, even my 6 year old asked where the rest of her meal was which cost nearly £6. The portion sizes are really small compared to how they used to be and the Bakewell tart was tasteless with cheap tasting custard. Service was really bad although the waitress was doing her best there should have been much more staff. We asked for dessert menu but nobody came to take our order so had to go to the bar to order although we were told it was table service only. Very overpriced for normal pub grub, was really disappointed.
