Excellent place to eat. Service was quite literally with a smile. A very enjoyable night out.

Popped back to the old stomping ground for the Open Gardens day and had an impromptu family lunch for 6. Very good menu, food came hot, in a reasonable time and the plates were all scraped clean the food was that good. Pleasant service, especially by the owner, the main server was very personable but needs to know what beers the pub serves 😀. Marchington is lucky to have such a good pub serving very good food, so many villages have sadly lost theirs. Looking forward to when we can return.

Delicious food and a great service, especially from the staff who wished me and my wife good luck and congratulations for the impending birth of our baby. I'm pretty sure our friends, who we were dining with, also enjoyed the visit to this excellent gem of a pub, and we look forward to returning soon (hopefully with baby in tow).

Eventually made it to this Dog and Partridge at Marchington after driving to the one at Checkley / Lower Tean. 😳. I had the lamb shank which was done to a tee, the vegetables were cooked to my liking, nice and crunchy and the mange toute were fabulous. Roslyn had the beef and eat every morsel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Met a friend here for lunch. I cannot fault the food it was very good. The place was a little quiet but it is a village pub so probably has a very local clientele at certain times.

So here I am in the pub ordering myself some food and upon my choice the waitress rolled eyes and said "are you poor or somat" of which I respond no. When the food arrives I find that bite has been taken off side and notice a puddle of liquid that seemed to be spit upon further taste tests. After asking about this, the waitress tells me to go back to the cotton field amd starts screaming well rolling around on the floor claiming I'm her father even though I'm only 22 and she must've been 30. Don't know about the dog in the name but I didn't see one walking about so I assume it's being served on the plates.

Enjoyed a family Sunday lunch in this very cosy pub. The food was first class. Nicely cooked, pipping hot, full of flavour & at a great price. We will definitely return. Would add that the chaps behind the bar, could perhaps help the very hard working ladies, who were back & forth taking our orders and delivering our meals & drinks. Quite a wait for our meals which was OK, as freshly cooked but we'd have like another round of drinks whilst waiting. One of the chaps could perhaps pop around the tables taking drink orders for example.
