Had lunch here. Absolutely superb, proper, home-cooked food, very warm welcome, just a perfect place.

Cherry tomato tart with goat's cheese starter. Tiny pastry case with halved cherry tomatoes which were heated but not exactly cooked. A crumb (and I do mean a crumb) of goat's cheese which I couldn't even taste. No side salad or anything to make it look less lost on the plate. A struggle to make it last more than 3 bites. Main course of trout with mussels. Trout fillet ok but pretty small, fried new potatoes were burnt (actually blackened at the edges) and mussels inedible as they smelled so awful they had to be off. The other members of my party also smelled them and agreed that they were off. Did give feedback to waiting staff but no response from chef. Extremely poor. Not an experience to be repeated.

Not been in for a while but the new guy has made it more welcoming and homely. For a Wednesday lunchtime there was a good crowd in with quite a few dining. I was just meeting up with two guys that I had not seen in a while. Next time I will book in for a meal

Great country pub. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive.I had the steak and ale pie which was delicious along with the lovely Guinness. Mrs had the chicken which she described as delicious and moist. All in all we had a great evening. Will definitely visit again.

Live 70s disco band for Halloween - absolutely brilliant. Good beers and food, and a smashing pub too. We will be back!

Food was absolutely beautiful! Pricey but you're paying for perfection so it's definitely priced right! I had the scallops and the sea bass and I wish I had ordered five more of them. Service was impeccable and we will definitely be coming again.

What a gorgeous country pub. There is a bar area which seems to have a good atmosphere with people actively popping in after a dog walk and then there is a restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and great food.I am Coeliac and I had a few options for dinner which was pleasantly surprising. I had pizza which is entirely homemade and cooked in a pizza oven. It was quite possibly the best pizza I've had and the burgers looked great too.The highlight was probably the service. We had 2 friendly waitresses who were happy to help and checked over dietary requirements with us. All in all, a great find.

Absolutely fantastic pub, after a busy day at Alton Towers this was perfect wind down, lovely and friendly staff, cold beer and great home made pizza, will definitely be retuning next time I'm near this area, 5 stars all round!

The welcome was friendly and the pub is comfortable and tastefully furnished. There were four ales on the bar as well as a choice of national keg beers. The lunch menu is mid priced with a good selection of light meals and sandwiches price at around £7/£8 but chips are an extra £3. Main meal priced from £10.95.Food was fine but Gammon steak was generous but reported as very salty. Service wasn't quick but, again friendly and helpful.
