🏠 The Riverside Inn, Leominster HR6 9ST

"The Riverside at Aymestrey - winner of Visit England 'Best Tourism Pub 2018' - is situated deep in the heart of Herefordshire countryside just on the southern edge of the Mortimer Forest, yet still close to Ludlow and Hereford. Authentic and atmospheric, the 16th century black and white building is surrounded by the natural beauty of the River Lugg valley and is run by Andy Link. “I took over The Riverside as Chef Patron in May 2016, having been Head Chef here for the past 10 years. We booked for a late Sunday lunch after visiting NT Croft Castle. Friendly helpful staff. The food was excellent and each course was great. If I was being picky the roast beef wasn't quite as tender as it could have been and a sharper knife may have been useful. The Yorkshire Pudding was perfect. My partner said the roast chicken was perfectly cooked but she did find the roast potatoes a little too crispy for her liking. Deserts were excellent as we're the two ciders we had. Thank you for making our anniversary that little bit special.

Absolutely immaculate! The food, sourced locally, even from their own kitchen garden, was some of the best we’ve ever had, proper British cooking in the heart of the country side. We were both blown away, and rather full too! Cannot praise this place enough, and will so be heading back as soon as we can! Lovely warm atmosphere too, Thankyou very much!

From the road this building does not look exceptional. Once inside it is completely outstanding. It has many little rooms leading from the two entrances through the main bars to the restaurant areas giving the atmosphere of the hotel and restaurant a very personal feeling.Service by all the staff is completely outstanding. They all try hard to be helpful without being intrusive. The food is up to Michelin standard and you get a decent meal not a decorated plate! The chef said he’s not interested in having any Michelin recognition because his customers know what they want and he gives them what they want, it is a virtue a circle. The bedrooms are comfortable, clean and quiet with all facilities.I will certainly be returning and taking friends and family with me. Thank you George, Maya, Donna and Andy for a wonderful stay.Roger Bell February 2022

We stayed here for the first time in 2018 and we were very impressed with the room and the food. Fast forward to 2022, and we are back again! This time we stayed in the suite (called the “Stable”) just behind inn. The food is still top notch. For me, the food was faultless. I will definitely be back the next time I travel to England.

Superb meal, with friends, here last night. We were the last to leave as we were enjoying ourselves and hadn't realised the time! The staff were excellent, welcoming and professionally attentive. I can highly recommend the barley risotto and the cheese board was delicious. A truly wonderful night out. Thank you The Riverside.

This place is an utter delight in every way. Wonderful staff, exceptional food, beautiful rooms (with a very comfortable bed) and a lovely location with great walks right on the doorstep. My dog and I had a wonderful stay and definitely intend to return.

What a fantastic place!George and every member of staff we came across were really friendly and professional - despite being really busy! They obviously work really hard and make every effort to provide excellent service. The food we had was absolutely delicious - the best we've had for such a long time. It came quickly, was beautiful to look and was really 'interesting'. I mean that in a positive way not that the food was odd! There were little things on the menu that made me curious - cake with pine, Jerusalem artichoke icecream, beetroot and white chocolate fudge, poached pears and granola for breakfast - yum! Oh, and the tastiest stuffing and roast chicken and most delicious roast potatoes in the world! It was all absolutely delicious. The building itself is full of character and really cosy and comfortable - beams, nooks, fireplaces. We stayed upstairs in the pub overnight - a gorgeous room with really comfortable beds, a sofa etc. This really is a fantastic place and we'd love to return.

Had a super delicious family supper here last night, supported by first class professional and friendly service. The steak was excellent and my wife really enjoyed her roast squash vegetarian meal. Remember to order coffee or tea at the end of the evening. Hot drinks are served with delicious home made chocolate orange fudge. Very highly recommended 👍👍👍👍👍

What a great place for dinner! The food was simply excellent, very flavoursome indeed. The service was equally great. I was particularly impressed at how well they catered to my friends multiple dietary requirements - deserves no less than 5 stars for that alone. If in the area again would definitely go back for more!
