We enjoyed a large family get together for Sunday lunch. We had our own separate room, the food was amazing and only bettered by the great service. Would highly recommend.

Excellent experience. Had a private room for a family gathering of 11. Food and service was outstanding the entire meal. The whole group had nothing but a great time. Highly recommend.

First visit to The Baiting House for a meal with friends to celebrate my husband's birthday in April. The food was of a good standard and arrived hot and nicely presented. Service was prompt and staff were pleasant and friendly, and the countryside location is quiet and peaceful. On our second visit we stayed a couple of nights in one of the lodges. Again, the main meal was delicious as were the breakfasts. I can honestly say we had a lovely stay, and will definitely return for food and the lodge stay with hot tub.

Myself, my partner and two friends stayed with the baiting house for a weekend. We had booked a lodge for 4 people. During the check in process, I was not told there was breakfast included within my stay and just handed a key. There was also no information in the lodge regarding breakfast.I then checked into the deluxe, 4 person lodge which had one bed and one sofa bed. Despite the check in staff knowing there were 4 of us checking in, bedding had only been provided for two. (When we requested bedding, the staff were visibly annoyed by the request which was quite an uncomfortable experience). On the night of our arrival, our group had drinks in the beer garden of baiting house. Our intentions were to also eat dinner however the restaurant stopped serving food at 8:15pm which the staff did not tell us on our arrival (we arrived around 7pm). This was frustrating as there were no other food options within the vicinity given the remote location of the venue. When it came to last orders, a member of staff informed us of this and the group began to finish their drinks. However, shortly after, the beer garden lights were turned off leaving us in complete darkness whilst we were finishing our drinks rather than being told the venue was closed and asked to vacate.Overall the venue and experience was not worth the cost

Long time been on my Baiting list!! Came down from a Wales golf trip as a stopover before heading to Hampshire and was thoroughly impressed. It does exactly what it says on the tin. All I needed was a great DBB experience and the BH delivered. Especially impressed with the food. Hats off to the chef for dinner and my breakfast. I would love to have this as my local go to pub with the outdoor patio area and fabulous pizza making hut. Great value great food lovely staff. Will definitely be returning. Friendly staff and were shown to table after getting some drinks for mothers Birthday dinnerFood was very tasty, online menu clearly states fries, mash with crispy onions & chives or beef fat Rosti are served with all mains. This was not the case and were an extra.Mother had fillet of Beef. She had to ask for steak knife as this wasn’t provided with the meal.Although the food was tasty. Portions were on the smaller size and given the other small issues noted. A slightly disappointing experience. Shame given the pub is lovely and staff friendly.Nice touch with our name on the table using scrabble letters.

It’s a real shame I’m giving a 1 star review here as it has potential to be so much more. We stayed for a weekend and found the check in process lacking. We weren’t told check out times, WiFi codes or even that there was breakfast included - we were just handed a key. We found out on the last morning of our stay that it was infact included and that we’d missed it by a minute - at which time I ordered a latte and a tea and was served a black coffee and a black tea but felt too awkward to say otherwise. Our lodge had washing up liquid but no cloth or tea towel for drying or cleaning the crockery which was a shame. I think when you’re spending that much money you should expect the whole package and that includes those little extras & a good check in. I wouldn’t stay again unfortunately.

I stayed here for the weekend and it was not the place I thought it would be. I arrived on the Friday for drinks and half way through my drink the lights and heating were turned off outside. When I asked why they said it was last orders and that we needed to leave. They then proceeded to laugh at me when I questioned why they hadn’t said anything when I purchased the drink. When I arrived at the accommodation I realised there was no bedding for the sofa bed. The next morning I asked if they could provide extra bedding and the woman working there rolled her eyes at me and said ‘yes I guess I can run that over’ which made me feel unwelcome and a burden upon her. I really regret making a reservation at this place and hope this review will honestly make you think twice before booking it. No one should feel how I was made to feel that weekend.

A classy venue, lacking in class. While the building, cleanliness, food and comfort of a hotel are of course important, for me personally it is the service and care that you receive that really makes a stay.Sadly, the care I experienced was not to the standard of all of the aforementioned criteria. We had booked a stay as part of our wedding celebrations and were very much excited to stay in the lodges. My experience of every service (photographer, caterer etc) was that they would do anything to go out of their way to try and help and support. The opposite can be said of The Baiting House. I'll leave the details of this out of this particular review as they are being dealt with and are on-going, as such it isn't fair for me to comment.I will however comment on the general service experienced. To me, everything seemed to be a burden to the staff working while we were there. Simple requests were met with confused expressions which made me feel uncomfortable and as if I was asking too much. For example, my brother ordered breakfast 10 minutes before I did. When mine arrived, his (and his partner's) breakfast had different items to mine. When I asked whether I might also be allowed to have hash browns, I was told, in a firm tone, that "our chef doesn't usually do hash browns". I asked if he could as he had done for my brother. I checked this with my brother, wondering whether it had been a specific request of his. It hadn't. To the credit of The Baiting House, they did fulfil this request, but not before making me feel awkward and uncomfortable for asking. Some of our friends then arrived for breakfast, which ends at 9.30am. We asked our friends why they didn't come earlier for breakfast, to which they told us that no member of staff had made them aware that breakfast was even served. I believe that this information was available to us, however it is quite common practice for hotel staff to make guests aware when they check in. This is certainly something I would expect of a 4 star service. As I said, a classy place lacking in class.Embarrassed for our friends, we asked a member of staff whether there was absolutely anything that could be done for them. It was 9.31am. "Our chefs go home at 9.30" was the blunt reply. Can that be true? What if we had ordered at 9.29am?It all just felt like we were a huge inconvenience to the staff. A thoroughly uncomfortable and unpleasant personal experience and one which should not come with the price they are charging.Thankfully there are many other options (which my friends have left great reviews of) nearby.A real shame.

Amazing! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we stepped foot inside the pub to check in. The atmosphere was lovely! The lodge was so cosy when we stepped in, clean, stylish decor and had everything we needed for our stay. Hot tub was clean and ready for us to hop straight into! Highly recommend booking tea at the pub... wow never have i had food like it! The pictures don't do it justice, we were looked after by the bubbliest, happiest bunch of people! We also had breakfast in the morning which was again 10/10 for us! All in all amazing stay and will definitely be back, thanks to all at The Baiting House x
