The Hostelrie at Goodrich Restaurant in Herefordshire

We had an exceptional meal here, nice relaxed atmosphere, great wine and the service was lovely as well. The menu suggests wine pairings with each dish which is great. I left our hotel key on the table and they called within a minute of us leaving to let us know. Visit here, perfect food, setting and service, you won’t be disappointed!

Really good local food with a nice atmosphere. Just remember, don't fill yourselves up, as they have some amazing puddings!

Staying in Goodrich for the new year, we booked the new year's eve dinner. Food was incredible, every single dish was stunning and even changed the set menu for my partner who was Pescetarian. Worth every penny. Great with dogs.

We stayed one night here and loved the architecture of the building, friendly hosts and the quaint village. Our second night was impacted by the power cuts that affected the region after a strong storm. Our hosts handled everything impeccably. Professional response, keeping us updated every step of the way. We definitely want to return to experience the pub and restaurant.

Highly recommended this place. We had Sunday lunch which was delicious. Friendly people and great atmosphere. Definitely will go back soon!

Lovely old building. Really nice bar and restaurant. Food was good but portions small. Room was nice but basic and quite noisy with creaking floorboards and hot water systems. Typical old building noises at night, to be expected I suppose. Enjoyed our stay overall.

A tasty Sunday lunch, although quite basic. My mum has Alzheimer’s disease and has a very small appetite so we ordered her a child’s portion. We were told at the end of the meal that she would be charged the full price. We asked for some extra gravy to be told we would be charged for that too. I found this quite bizarre. Not a friendly experience at all. Everywhere else in and around Ross was fully booked and this was a last option - I now understand why. I think you have to be able to take criticism (if it’s constructive) in the service industry and we did complain about being charge for the gravy as I have never experienced this anywhere else and it feels super stingy. But our complaint escalated quite quickly into a full blown row (a bit like a scene from Fawlty Towers)! Really unfortunate as the food was perfectly okay, the wine at the perfect temperature. Can’t say much for the staff though..The following pictures are the opinion of people I asked on Facebook about the gravy debacle. You probably need to change your policy on this and show a little bit of goodwill.

After a lovely walk at Symonds Yat we stopped in hoping to get some lunch and a beer. Notice on door said food served until 2.30, it was 2.13 so we thought we’d be in time. Sat at the bar for a couple of minutes until barmaid finished having a chat at a nearby table (only 6 people in the pub). Greeting wasn’t particularly friendly, but asked what we wanted to drink. We asked if we could have menus to be bluntly told they’d stopped serving so we left.

Really lovely meal here - 10 of us in our party plus a well behaved dog. We ate in the restaurant side and it was delightful. Everything was done properly but without being pretentious. Food was excellent. Service was extremely good - friendly, attentive and helpful. Highly recommend. New owners and they deserve to do well.

Showed up this evening without booking and sat at a table in the garden with our dog.Service was a little slow but there only appeared to be three staff on covering the entire place (who were all very kind and as efficient as possible). I think they were expecting a quiet evening following the Bank Holiday weekend.Menu is concise but interesting and everything we had was cooked well and perfectly seasoned. The pork belly with mustard lentils was particularly good. Lovely selection of wines, including the nearby wythall estate winery. Really impressed as our visit since new ownership and the renovation inside is to a really good standard.Would have been 5 stars if there had been more staff available as they were spread a little thin, slowing down service. Will definitely be returning!
