The Imperial in Herefordshire

I'm very unimpressed. Me and my work colleagues went here for a Christmas buffet wanting to support them because we are pretty much next door. We booked in advance and there was a lot of us paying, we paid a deposit but sadly 2 of the group fell ill so couldn't go, they refused to cooperate in taking the price for those 2 off the bill even though we let them know ASAP they couldn't go and we were happy for them to keep the full deposit, they still insisted on charging the full amount even for the people that couldn't go. Considering most of our staff go there very often and we have gone for Christmas for years spending loads we were all annoyed that they didn't care about comprise or negotiation, just went on about terms of service which we were not told about or shown when booking. Despite this the rest of us still went as the deposit was paid and we didn't want to waste it. I know it was a buffet but the food was sub standard. The 13 of us each paid £12 (not including drinks) for sliced cucumber and cheap tesco frozen prawns nothing special or appetising there were a few mini burgers one of us took home for their dogs as we couldn't eat them, they were flat and had the texture of old leather shoes, that is the most accurate description I can give. Of course we weren't expecting amazing gourmet food from a pub but what we got was almost good for a budget children's party. As for the problems with the bill on top off having to pay for people that weren't there they still overcharged us all even more but we didn't want to make a fuss so left. I wasnt going to write this review but since then I have been in a few times for drinks as its convention location wise but I am always served by a young man who is just rude and lacks any social skills, he barely manages a grunt when I give my order, doesn't seem like he wants to be there or serve me. Despite all of this the other staff are lovely and the location is good. My intention isn't to be mean but to give constructive criticism, I would love to in the future have to eat these words and see them take this review into account for improvements. But I don't think my work place will be booking the Christmas buffet here this year.

I went here with friends for lunch. The inside deco is lovely and clean everywhere. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely and enough also plenty of choices. I was impressed with a staff member bringing a bowl of water and dog biscuits for my dog. Will definitely be going back.

A positively first class establishment. The food is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere warm and friendly. The staff are always pleasant, polite and welcoming. A special mention for Jake, you sir are a star!

Great meal at a very reasonable price. The Eton mess is a meal in itself. Walk to the back and there is a quiet restaurant area, where the lovely staff will wait upon you.

Pleasantly surprised by the hunters chicken had plenty of cheese and sauce although the weird tomato sauce base under the chicken was horrid and unnecessary the rest was lovely. Chips were blank and dry. Drinks were good. Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere and you can order off the app which is always a good aspect.

Want an example of a perfect pub, visit here! Decor inside is stunning, wide open and spacious which gives you plenty of room even though it gets very busy. Staff are so well trained it really shows in their service, the menu is large and varied but the chefs serve it quickly and presented beautifully...and hot. Well done the Imperial.

Wonderful! A beautiful old building, clean and modern but with character inside. Took advantage of the lunchtime offer of 2 courses for £9.99. Fish and chips (very generous portion) which were delicious followed by bread and butter pudding strips, with sultanas, caramel and icing sugar together with custard and ice cream. Staff were very helpful, particularly a blonde girl with pony tail. She gave me plenty of good advice when I couldn't make up my mind.

Steak meal was amazing today. Walked through a lovely decorated, welcoming bar and restaurant. Seating outside was great too. Staff were really friendly and happy. Lovely to see.Drinks came after the meal came out but not a massive deal as everything was so quick and it was all beautifully presented and delicious.Thank you

Great staff and plenty of options available on the food and drinks front. The façade masks a large outdoor beer garden with outdoor sports viewing. The locations was clean and tidy and provided a healthy atmosphere to suit.

Visiting the city decided to have a bit to eat before returning home. So we booked in and sat in the beer garden, we'll laid out, could sit under cover or in the open. Staff very helpful, very surprised at the menu, we were not expecting much. Have got to say it was all amazing and will be returning again.
