The Merton Restaurant and Grill in Herefordshire

I don't know why some people complain about this hotel. My room was spotless. The bed was comfy, the room was nice and warm (you can alter the temperature yourself, if people use their common sense) and the the facilties (tea, coffee and toiletries) were well stocked. The room was nice and clean and the staff team were very friendly and helpful. If anything, it is Hereford that needs to be criticised, not the hotel. The owners are very friendly, but me being a northerner, and so are the owners, the people of the South don't seem to think we are actually FRIENDLY. We have just come out of Covid people, have some compassion for families and their situations. Anyway, overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

Worst hotel experience I have ever had. Hands down.

This is a 3 star hotel so don't expect the ritzGood spacious room good WiFi everything we needed. Particularly like access arrangement via keyfob as you can come and go as you please. staff are very friendly and helpful. The housekeeper michelle is definitely worth mentioning as is very cheerful nothing is too much trouble and an asset to the hotel.Hotel is part of the city by a road. traffic noise has to be accepted let's face it it's in a city noise didn't bother us at allLeft alone to your own devices. Not even worth 1 star. This hotel was the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. The decor was so outdated it was like sleeping in the 1950’s, like something out of rising damp. The hotel bar manager couldn’t pour a proper pint if he tried. Absolutely disgusting customer service given by all staff. The beds were like sleeping on concrete, we were either woken up by the noisy road traffic or screaming guests who were either drunk out of their minds or having a domestic. Cleanliness is clearly not a priority here. Would never recommend to anyone. When coming back after food and drinks the hotel was completely locked up - apparently you have to ring the number on the door 11 calls and NO ANSWER. Absolute joke.

Clean but very dated in decor etc. Shower wasn’t powerful and bathroom smelt of drains ! Located in town and not the hotels fault but very noisy surroundings with homeless etc making loud noises ALL night long from the park next door. Boy racers in their cars at night out the front on the main road. Ambulance sirens from the local hospital up and down at all hours. We were at the back of the hotel as well but could hear it all. Not to mention the seagulls 🤦🏻‍♂️ Safe to say we won’t be returning here !!!

Door hit other door on opening, Shower DID not work have that on video, windows were rubbish let cold air in, owner was miserable I said hello and he completely ignored me RUDE, and to top it off around 9pm there was a horrendous sound which sounded like a power generator was switched on in the room below me and the owners had left so they didn't know about it so I came home the same night. WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!! AVOID AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Was so shocked by the service at this hotel, the woman at the front desk was making some really rude remarks as to why I was not wearing a face mask, I came home after work one evening to see someone had been in the room I was staying in and threw away my food, other things such as my bag had also clearly been looked through. This place has really shocked me, I’d recommend you sleep rough for the night instead

Very basic hotel. You get what you pay for. No lift and narrow stairs to the upper floors. Basically give it a miss. No personality. Better to book into a premiere inn.

So the owners are really nice helpful people, some of the other staff are a bit odd, walking round with no shoes on and stuff.....other than that....let down by location, stayed for 4 nights and was woken by either road noise or arguments right outside. No parking so have to park in the bus station. Rooms not cleaned in our opinion for covid as dust and grime all over bathroom.Should be 1* but given the extra one for the staff xx
