The Meze in Herefordshire

Staying in Hereford on holiday with a big family group of 10 and after Googling to see what options were nearby we settled for the Med as we were impressed by the interesting and diverse menu knowing that there was something that everyone would like."Stupendous" and "The best takeaway I've ever had" is how two members of our party described the food and I would not disagree! In fact it's not really what I would describe as takeaway food, it's restaurant quality.... absolutely superb, very generous portions and excellent value for money.Finally, a word about the owner / chef who is very friendly, charming and likeable chap indeed!

Don't let the placement of this place put you off, it's a hidden gem. Think of a great meal that you had on holiday in Greece or Spain, friendly local that cooks that great authentic food, well that's the exact thing you will feel here, Ali is such a lovely guy and the food was great. Its not a fast food place so don't expect it super quick, it's cooked fresh and that's what you wait for. A nice atmosphere with the music, to chill and chat. Can definitely recommend this place and will certainly be going back

Amazing! This place is such a hidden gem. You really get lost when you’re inside with the music and atmosphere. Ali is just as wonderful as the food he cooks. It’s our first visit and we will definitely be returning. Fresh and authentic. We couldn’t care less the place isn’t licensed or the decor is “outdated” (some other reviews complain about). I think it’s full of charm and character. Thanks for a lovely evening ☺️

We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary yesterday and because I am shielding we were unable to go for a meal in a restaurant. I am delighted to say I am really happy we didn't because we discoveredthe Mediterrane Restaurant and what a superb treat we had without leaving the house!The food was fabulous and I am quite a fussy eater to say the least. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and suggested what to have with certain dishes so many thanks to him.I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be using them on a regular basis. I would also like to say thanks for the additional dumplings with your message, that was a lovely touch.Many thanks.

Very well priced. £15.00 a head, excluding drinks. Very tasty starter, mains and sides. When I was sitting there waiting, it seemed a long time, until I tasted what arrived on the dish. I decided that it was definitely worth the wait. Where we were sat we could see the kitchen and we could see that they were preparing and cooking everything from scratch. We will be going again to try something new off the menu. Don't expect silver service waiting on, the young lady serving was also the sous chef and general dogsbody in the kitchen. She was working hard to help the chef as well as everything else. If your family owned a restaurant and your Uncle was the chef, this is what you would expect.

Bizarre location, cafe decor, lovely food. The guy that runs it is a real character and a nice guy. Service was as expected when everything is cooked fresh. A real shame it is unlicensed and that you can't bring your own alcohol. A nice glass of cold wine would have matched the food perfectly. A really good choice of food. Great for large groups.
