Best pub lunch I've had in s fair while. We're back in UK visiting friends and went lunch. Had the soup followed by pie from the specials menu, I liked the food, the portions were generous and the staff friendly.

Nice, casual pub atmosphere. Excellent food, tasty, fresh and hot, with a nice selection of choices too. Staff were friendly and polite. Good parking facilities. Well worth a visit.

Lovely old pub with fantastic views and the friendliest, attentive staff you could hope for. Three of us decided on the fish and chips which was excellent. Pure white cod but could have been whale by the size of it, and a large bowl of chips. Excellent pub grub, and nothing wrong with that.... value for money. Can't wait to try another dish from the menu..

I don't like pubs that serve food on massive plates with a tiny portion of food arranged in the middle or chips in wire baskets. The plate was massive because it needed to be to fit the enormous battered fish on it and no wire baskets in sight.Staff were friendly, food was good quality and very reasonably priced, facilities were clean and tidy with baby changing facilities available in the disabled access toilet.I've already recommended visiting to several other people based on my experience.

Chose The Penny Farthing for Sunday lunch as it seemed to have some of the best reviews for the area, we were staying in the area for a few days.On the food front, it would only be 4 stars but that's mainly due to personal preferences. The Sunday lunch was a decent portion with plenty of veg and all pretty tasty. The beef was nice and tender but my preference is served pink and the spuds weren't as crispy as I'd like. But, it's a decent portion and we cleared out plates so that's a good sign! On the dessert front, my choice of chocolate orange torte was a little too rich and wasn't made in house which might explain why. It was quite a long dessert menu so personally I'd offer less but make them all in house if possible. It's a five star review as the staff were really great and went beyond just taking our order. We're a small family and they interacted well with all of us and made us feel very welcome.Like I say, the food was good and we would return if in the area; the service and welcome were excellent and that's all part of the overall experience!

This was by far the best steak I've had! It was delicious, hot and a very decent portion! The photo doesn't do it justice and I was too hungry to take photos of the rest of the food. My boyfriend and I had a massive bowl of amazing chips to share, plus a large jug of Stilton sauce which was creamy, punchy and overall, just delicious! The salad was fresh, the mushrooms were firm and hot, not soggy or overcooked like they are so often in pubs. The staff were all really lovely and we definitely made the right decision to come here tonight. 100% recommended!!!

Always love coming here - such brilliant views, food & service. Contactless payment and outdoor seating are both great. Didn't need to sit under parasols or gazebo as weather this afternoon was fab, but good that both were ready options ππ»
