Lovely place to stay. Welcoming and good service. Room was lovely. And the food was excellent. In a pleasant location.

One night stay on a wye fishing trip. It's an old building, very full of character. Faultless service and the best steak I have eaten. Catered for all our needs, perfect for our trip. Pretty sure we will be back.

Requested a double room and as per review from Greg, he is on his own, requested and paid for single room. This is the room we originally stayed in. Charged a double room rate but clearly a single room as per review from Greg, and as per my complaint. Poor conditions and very small.Toilet seat broken, stained and dirty. Broken tiles, cracked flooring and both dirty. Stained carpets, walls, furnishings, decor and doors and frames. Obvious spillages on furnishings, furniture, mirrors, walls and carpets, mugs, and kettle. Poor curtains and netting, dirty, old and not adequate. Stained and old bedding, towels with hairs. Left towels as per signage for replacement but wet towels placed back on the dry towel that we had. Dirty windows, ledge and sills. Mould and insulation exposed.Toilet blocks and doesn't flush until after five to six flushes.I was mis sold a room, which in no uncertain terms was not fit to stay in. The photos do not do it justice, the disrepair, the grime, and dust. I took photos of everything I have mentioned.The second room was a double room, more space but yet again toilet issues, stains, spillage marks, dust, disrepair and grime.I really did try to resolve the matter with them, but was faced with rudeness.Ongoing complaint, until I get a resolution

Amazing little place to stay. Food was fantastic. Service possibly the best we've had. Staff very friendly nothing was too much trouble.. 5* all day long

Quirky rooms as you would expect from an old building, excellent service and superb food and good choice of beers and excellent breakfast even if you want it it early like me

Castle Lodge Hotel was a wonderful place to stay. Steve and Georgina were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful and very well equipped. Ross on Wye is walking distance away (through a lovely park) and it's super well connected to the rest of Forest of Dean. I can't wait to go back!

Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Food was delicious. Great spot for touring the area. On the negative side, the hotel is a bit tired and dated and a bit overpriced for a two star hotel.
